pellmell It looks like the shaft disintegrated below the ferrule

Exactly…crazy…dunno if I have seen a shaft explode like this before…pile of soft fibers is what it looks like 😳

Even with bad cataracts, I see more than 1 heel strike....why doesn't anyone else?

I'd like to see how many toe hits there are.
Weak-assed, soft tipped, OEM shaft.

Is that the stock Ping shaft.....never used or pulled from another head/adapter? Looks to me like it's been 'cooked', before being put in the adapter.

Yup…it is the stock Alta CB 55 stiff that came with it…don’t ask me how he “smoked” the damn thing to end up looking like this…gawd damn kids…🙄

Well…at least now I have a buyer for the brand new Tensei AV Raw Orange stiff that is out in my shop…😜😂

ode Consistent heel strikes can lead to shaft breakage

Maybe he did hit it off the heel so damn hard that it exploded? He does swing fairly fast… I dunno man…🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't know that Ping or any OEM would replace that shaft. I think their consensus is much the same as here....abuse....if it's at the hosel/in the adapter. Would probably need to be 6" above to get a new one. (In The Rex driver company...it would be those rules.😄)

VigilanteTrail He does swing fairly fast…

Jake hit a drive yesterday, and I told him to look at the face, and see where he hit the ball. It went, but I knew from the flight where he hit it. Dead on the heel, almost missed the whole ball, but no paint mark. Warned him about shaft breakage.

Par4QC what's his club speed? I'm wondering how fast is fast enough to break shafts with repeated heel strikes.

After further thought…what about unintentional (or intentional 😳) twisting of the head as the causal factor?
