A lot of players, naturally, prefer to see the issue as it impacts them personally. What they often don't consider is the impact being afflicted upon the golf facility itself. Let's assume a weekday tee time reservation is 30 bucks. That's $120 revenue the course potentially expects to see from every 8 minutes (on average). So... why should the course overlook the potential $120 of revenue, just to cater to $30? That is a business plan destined for failure.
There are times when singles can get out, solo, per their wishes. There are times when that's not feasible. So the onus is on the individual golfer to either loosen the personal preference restrictions and expect to share the game with others, or be flexible and take what is available.
Or.... enjoy the range time and miss out on a potentially satisfying golf experience with people you might actually enjoy meeting and playing with.
