johnnydoom Bravopilot In the south dinner = lunch. Never knew why, but Google says that in the farming business the mid-day meal was the large meal of the day.
Bravopilot johnnydoom Ok, although I lived in the south most of my life, never in one location more than 3 years. As a military family did not really catch on with some of the lingo.
sdandrea1 brownmoose13 problem with Juliette Falls is they are pricing themselves out of the market. My guess it will be $100 after January 1 but the hot dogs are great!! The burger deal still on? Used to be a round of golf, burger, fries and a drink for $60. EXCELLENT burgers!
Bravopilot brownmoose13 Expected more Geezer type cheap prices or included in the HOA fees. Assuming lots of fees in The Villages but all is included.
sdandrea1 It's a busy place in-season. My parents lived there from 1987 to 2001. Dad could play golf anytime he wanted from April through September. I only have limited data from visits during the Oct to May timeframe from 2015 to 2023. I'd meet @brownmoose13 for lunch and a club swap once or twice a season and SWMBO and I would go for a meal or shopping occasionally. When I say it's chaotic it's just my perspective of the Town Centers. The amenities are unbelievable. Everything you need is there. It's just too busy for my taste. I'm sure you could stay around your home and play golf and hit the pool and gym near you, eat at home and avoid the beehive of the Town Centers.
[deleted] My daughter's in-laws sold their family business (8 figures) about 6 years ago, sold their Manchester home to my daughter and her husband and live in the Villages pretty close to year round, playing a lot of golf. They seem pretty happy there.
garyt1957 I think we'll likely find it too big and busy for us but who knows? My only experience with 55 and over communities is my in laws in Solivita in Florida. We thought that was pretty big but it's probably no bigger than one or two individual Villages in TV. I already hooked up with a basketball group so that will keep me in shape along with pickleball and the gym. Hitting Walmart for my multi colored loofas now.
brownmoose13 garyt1957 not too big.. right now about 150,000+ people and growing. To give you an idea to go from the north end to the point furthest south to play golf in your golf cart you would need to allow 2 hours and our carts go 22MPH. Lucky for me we are 65 minutes to the south and 45 minutes to the north
KCee I remember my parents looking into the Villages, but my dad was too cheap for that. They also felt it was too crowded for them. They wound up in a tiny place in Winterhaven that was super cheap (dad was thrilled) and it had everything they needed.
Weirfan rynobucket Who the hell eats supper at 4:30? Like WTF Must be what you do when you are so old that you need to be in bed by 7 lol 630-730pm is typical. When we are on vacation , like at Desert Storm could be 8 or later
garyt1957 bad9 In northern Canada too. My Canadian friends call dinner, supper. When I was a kid we called our evening meal supper except on Sunday when it was Sunday dinner and we ate early like 1:30 after church.
garyt1957 We often eat a late lunch /early dinner around 4pm. Then I might eat something small later.
propman garyt1957 we did same thing on sundays-maybe have dinner at 2pm. I remember not liking it too much
