rsvman2 Around here the driving ranges all have the extra mat where the ball sits. Haven't been to any of the newer inside ones, or the ones with sims, to see how they are. I did play on a sim several years ago that had the extra mat to hit off of, even a 'sand' area on the same mat. Horrible.

An extra mat? What are you guys talking about? We have a replaceable strip with a tee hole but the entire mat area is the same height

I purchased my own but most the good indoor sim places I have been to this way supply them along with the RCT balls .

I have an indoor place less than 5 mins that has 5 bays all with Trackman and they supply the tees above and RCT balls.

these tees are also useful for those folks who play all season long ( when the ground is frozen )
My bottom limit is usually 40*

This absolutely the key. NO putting and set auto gummies at something reasonable. It can be a slog if playing with folks who aren't used to SIM golf. There is one thing worse than waiting on the course and that's waiting on the SIM🤮. Used to play league and there was the occasional group of guys in the slot before me/playing partner and they'd go over and the attendant wouldn't do shit about, so we'd schedule at a time that was first or make sure no one was scheduled before us.

Also last place I played had a rubber tee housing that accepted tees and you could adjust height easily. It was a little loose but I had a thicker stemmed tee that worked great. The cone shaped tees work but IMO are a PITA as they fly into the screen and at times are hard to find.

Actually no…not at our place. We don’t offer food and alcohol. We are golf first… unlike places like X-Golf, Birdie Bar, Champions 18 that advertise themselves as a bar with golf. All the specials are on bar food and drinks. Our specials are on golf/lesson packages.

I did have one guy last year call and say, “ I was thinking of coming down to do some shootin in the tunnels…”🙄

I've never played indoor golf but I own a simulator (Mevo +) and 10'X10'X10' cage as well as a projector and projector screen. I've owned this setup for 2-3 years now but haven't hooked it up to use it yet. Last year we went to Texas so I didn't use it. This year I'm still recovering from getting a new knee and my always bad back is acting up so it doesn't look like I'll use it again this winter.

garyt1957 Chipping, pitching and putting are rreally tough on screens for me.

We had an indoor place 10 years ago with 4 sims. We laughed when one of our buds would use his putter and plumb bob the screen. 🤣 I never really liked the sims but it was a good chance to meet with the buds, hit some balls and the place had a nice bar and grill. Unfortunately they had zero biz in the summer and it maybe lasted a year.

Rickochet That’s the problem with the 9 million places popping up around here. They are following each other and are clueless. Great in the winter… but you’re only getting the drunks. Nobody is there for practice or golf lessons. As soon as the courses open up, those places are ghost towns and end up closing. Our courses are open March - December 1. That doesn’t leave these places much time to make a years rent etc..

We’ve been around forever, over 20 years. It’s more of a year round golf school with indoor golf. We get golfers not shooters.

I play on my home sim in the garage just to get me through the winter. It’s a basic radar unit R10 and I run gs pro. No leagues or anything. Hard to do anything real useful because the numbers aren’t that accurate. I’m going to a buddies house tomorrow after work to check out his new high end sim. I want to see meaningful numbers I can make adjustments for improvement. If so I will pony up for one.

bigshank GS Pro is cool having so many courses. Only problems we find is whether or not to use the elevation setting along with low driver distance. We need to fine tune the driver boost.

I've got a Mevo+ that I bought several years ago. I haven't used it yet because I don't know how to hook it up.
I'm contemplating either selling it (cheap) or trading it in for a Mevo Gen2. My son's golf partner just got one and
he says he could probably help me hook it up. A plus for this new one is that it doesn't need as much room to use it.

Typhoon yeah I’ve done that before or set the fairways to firm but then they always roll out into the rough. I like playing red tees on course just playing irons. When I first got it the distance bs drove me nuts. I was out there overswinging which doesn’t help anything. It’s mainly the lower launching clubs that screw ya the most. It’s estimated off ball speed and launch angle. Spin is also estimated. Wedges and short irons are fairly close though

Typhoon John do you think it’s GS Pro software causing the distance drop or my Garmin R10? Just curious I’ve never played on anything else to compare it to.

Too cold to play, so we tried TopGolf for the 1st time.....beats a blank I suppose. 🙄

Eguller I did it once as a group and thought it was fun. Never really had the urge to go back though. It’s also quite a drive to get to for me. What’d think of it and would you go again?

bigshank It’s the gspro software. Irons seem to be fine but driver is short on carry distance.

I know how far I carry driver. I have the fence at
our range lasered at 250 and I’m in it on the fly or over it. GSPro gives me 225 carry all the time. But I like I sai, it reads irons fine. The is a driver boost setting you can use but it’s touchy.

We also have About Golf 3 track sims and we have to go in and boost the driver number for it to be correct.

At first on GSPro I was reading about changing the elevation to fix distance because the default is zero elevation (sea level). That caused all kinds of headaches because you were boosting everything.
