johnnydoom Still too high

Ok, tell me why? And how anyone can figure that making any sense. Just because they have perennially been dirt cheap?
But no one complains when they buy a new vehicle for $50K that used to cost under $4K. Does anyone complain about the cost of a pack of gum today? C'mon.....eggs are cheap at $6/dozen. Even at $8.

Yes, eggs are eggs....and vehicles are vehicles....to me.

Par4QC no one complains when they buy a new vehicle for $50K

I've been complaining about car, and particularly pickup prices for many years. I'm driving a Scion iM because I refused to pay car prices as they have been over the past 15 years, not because it is what I really want to drive. The still too high comment on eggs was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, if I really thought that I would not buy them. There are plenty of other things to eat.

azgreg The thing about birthday cakes is you can just go in a buy one whenever you want. They don't check or anything.

Just have to figure the total cost of a meal(breakfast?) with eggs. They would be a cheap item even at these prices. IF eating at home.

My wife used to love the 'ready to eat' bacon....did not want to fry the raw, just nuke a few seconds. I noticed it last time as I was passing it by....used to be around $4.99/pkg.. Now was almost $13!!
Eggs are still cheap. They used to be around $1.69.
I'll bet no one's complaining about bacon though, so I'm off base. 🀣

Par4QC Does anyone complain about the cost of a pack of gum today?

I complained to my wife the other week about that. We’re in line and she grabs a little container of gum. It was like $4.50… ( quite possibly more than the eggs we boughtπŸ˜‚). I was shocked…. I said.” WTF…$4.50 for fuckin gum???” She ignores me

Youse guys are getting hosed down there in the land of (almost) free.
And here I thought he was gonna bring down the cost of groceries instead of wrecking the economy.

My wife was at the grocery store today and said eggs were $10/18. They're cheaper at Costco, when they have them.

This is CAN dollars. So less than $2.80 US

Spartan I would never pay that for them, to be sure. Last time I was in the grocery store, they were just under $6. And they had tons of them, more than they usually have out.
No one was buying. Key.....to bringing prices down.πŸ‘

I already had some from another source for under $4/dozen.

candukid Last month I did something I've never done, bought the extra large eggs. They were not all that much higher than the large and I just wanted to see what was different. When I went to use a couple those things were huge! Then when I cracked the 1st one, it had double yolks. Ended up with 4-5 like that in the dozen.
              So, freebies. πŸ˜„

Dropped sharply to 8 bucks a dozen? Still drastically overpriced in my opinion.
                Corporate greed.

Par4QC I was making an omelet yesterday and used the last x-large egg I had and two large eggs. When cracked into a bowl side-by-side I was a bit startled to notice that the yolk of the x-large was at least 50% bigger than the large ones next to it.

johnnydoom It will settle down. But maybe not if people keep paying what they are asking now. Demand and all that.
Last time prices on eggs jumped, it only lasted a month before they were back to 'normal' prices. At least in my area. Went from $7 back to under $2.
