scotts33 If sound/feel at impact has no importance why don't most average mid to high hdcp'ers use a good 2 piece distance ball low spin off driver 100 compression? ie. older Top Rock It's proven that higher compression balls yield more distance than 2 piece low compression balls but why keep using low compression 2 piece ie. Cally Super Soft, Srixon Soft feel and the like. I have not seen many low compression 2 piece balls spin much more off a wedge than a high compression 2 piece ball unless you have great short iron/wedge technique and in this realm of skill level I don't see it. I am not speaking of urethane here. So why go low compression?
I've always said that if you want the longest ball, off the tee, use the Top-Flite XL model....number changes every year, may be up to 7000 now. I did find 1 a few rounds back and hit it. Monstrously long, longer than any ball I've used this year.....off the tee. That is where any gain stops, and loss will possibly be had from the FW. We do not swing any type FW clubs as fast as drivers. Fairly sure that is a proven fact.
I can hit ProV1x much better than any ball from tee or FW. But that price.....
Most will be best suited using 70-80 compression. JMO, from experience/experimenting.
But, you do not want a cover that makes you have to replace balls a few times per round. And covers come in many different names and even same names may react differently as far as shredding, so choosing one requires detective work.
BTW, love the Nippon shafts, but do have to use 1 flex stiffer.
