DonM Try some "toe down" shots.

I've been using these a lot this year and it's been working well.

Also just practicing chipping 1-handed has helped me tremendously. I probably should practice putting 1-handed and see if that helps at all 🤔

JMO but most hackers on 30 to 100 yard pitch shots take to much loft and take full swings with higher lofted wedges and then skull it or blow it over the green. Get rid of all the high lofted wedges use 1 and take shorter 1/2 to 3/4 swings with short irons and the 1 wedge you use and get good at one kind of way to play lower loft running pitche shots. Saves strokes. Only reason to have high bounce wedges is if the courses you play have soft sand and for most of us this isn't the case especially for northern reasonable cost courses.

Ain't no one gonna follow that advice, sad to say. You read it on here every week. What you've suggested (sometimes) makes for long putts, and everyone is a horrible putter, (from my reading of threads). Plus....what about spin? Gotta have spin, dammit, or a player is just no good. Can't get any spin on those type, suggested, shots. Need 60* wedges, HAVE to have them in bag!! Bad putters, remember? Need to hit close.
People practice 'swings', they never practice 'shots'.🤔

But, I have always played the way you described. With my horrible looking swing. I have fun by never having to worry how I look swinging. I have fun playing many different courses during the season, with many different clubs of all types.

My only question is.....how the hell do I hit a wedge from 100??😲

Typhoon You think that's funny, but you should see my son hitting his 2- way chipper. I've seen him hit many greens from 140-150.
And he's 6"3". Bent over like a damn hunchback with that short club. 😂

Ken Venturi said the same thing about spin. Ken said paraphrased...."I can know that if I put a slight amount of spin I can one hop and stop it but massive spin where you draw the ball back I won't know how far the ball will wind up from the hole". Of course back then they were using balata balls. ☺ Spin is over rated until you are a very low hdcp or scratch player and I kinda doubt that there are many on this site in that skill level on average. Much ado about nothing for the average rec. player.

professor Pros get into more trouble with the spin, than they get help from it. I see it every tournament I watch.
I never cared about/nor care about spin, on greens. If it happens, it happens by accident with me. Never found a need for it myself.
I am talking iron spin, btw.

Well, this thread has been a disaster. I was having no problem with my partial shots, pitching in particular. And now in my two most recent rounds, I’ve sucked. Thanks for worse than nothing.

“Exquisite Torture” was how the game of golf was introduced to me. In my most recent round, I began the day informing my brother in law that my prior round I had a great day off the tee. Well, that was enough to shut that part of my game down. Scrambling then sets the stage for lots of partial shots. Hence my comment about the collapse of my short game.
