Pitch shots from 20 to 80 yards I take the wedge back the appropriate amount for the distance. Experiment to see how far back. For example maybe a 50 yard just take it back halfway etc.. Full follow thru. Don’t decelerate.
For flop shots the key is make sure you have a good lie. Helps to have a nice cushion of grass underneath. Then take a bunker shot stance.
Lean left, knees bent, relaxed grip (no tension). I use a 60 degree. Then just swing and accelerate the cub under the ball with a full swing and follow thru using the bounce of the club. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. lol
As far as shanking. Make sure you know whether it’s a heel or toe shank. When I hit a shank it’s off the toe.
