Just MHO, but my wife and I went to a Solheim Cup once (Rich Harvest Farms, near Chicago), and decided never again.
At a normal full field tour event there are 144 players (before the two round cut), so you can always find someone of interest to follow. At a Ryder Cup, there are 12 players on each team, and for the fourball and alternate shot matches each squad fields four 2-man teams. So, you have thousands of people trying to follow those four groups. We found it impossible to get close enough to see anything. We finally figured out that the way to do it was to move a hole in front of the first group, find a good vantage point, then watch all 4 groups go through…..then move ahead and repeat.
Even the last day singles matches there are only 12 groups on the course….. On the drive home we both decided “NEVER AGAIN!” The best seat in the house is in front of your TV!!! As I said, JMO…..others may disagree…..
