That's probably true. There's a public town course about 10 minutes from my house that I used to play after work leagues in. They jacked up the prices at least 15 years ago and it didn't really matter. They never had much weekend traffic back then because they are a par 61 and not a "real" course, but they were always mobbed weekdays with retirees and leagues. Covid hit and now they are just always packed and it's not more retirees or leaguers but the "shooters". Price is kind of stupid for a so so condition exec course, but not much else around. They even expanded their parking lot to hold all the pandemic golfers.

Par4QC And yet they keep coming🙄. The super is pushing to raise prices so we get the same money and less play.

The thing is it’s cheap so we get crappy golfers who dig up the tee boxes and fairways. If we get better and less golfers we can keep up with maintenance, there won’t be 6 practice swings with divots right next to each other X 375-425 people out there.

Eguller too many people discovered golf during covid. They were never taught etiquette, or apparently, how to play. They're out there to day drink with buddies and drive carts drunk.
@Typhoon ,I think you guys need 6 seat carts with a driver/ caddie who can keep the shooters of track for a 5 hour round. Make the bastards walk a little bit to their ball and hit it.
I know it ain't gonna happen, it is an idea...

Probably need more Top Golf or simulator places for the "shooters" to frequent. No worries about pace of play and the drinks are flowing. No need to pay for carts, but maybe an Uber home.

Back to lost clubs. I have been fortunate in my 62 years of golf to have never lost a club. True dat. I did leave a $400 Guru 4 GPS attached to a cart a few years back but I had put one of my shaft labels on the back that had my name and phone number on it. I had a message on my home phone when I got home that said they had it. I am a believer in shaft labels. Most of my old and favorite component clubs can't be replaced so I hope the labels will help if I leave one. I also never leave a club laying off of a green. I lay it well on the the putting surface or near the flag where it will be seen.

I wonder how many people do not turn in clubs they find on the course? Many think it is finders keepers. I would like to kick them square in the ass. 😡

Rickochet Never left a club behind, but have found several. And none that I would ever dream of keeping. Found headcovers also, and again, nothing that I'd have on my clubs. And I don't play courses like they have in MA, but those boys must travel around some😄, with the crap I find.

Shaft labels! 100% If someone keeps my club, I want them to be forced to take the label off or be reminded they screwed someone over.
I do the same thing with clubs on the green and plus leave them on the way to the cart.

Best tip I've heard to avoid losing clubs......put your golf glove with them. You will be looking for your glove on the next tee.

So… can you guess how that works around here? Yeah, goes both ways. We had a Cally x forged 7 iron with a project x shaft in lost and found a few years back. It was there for a while and I happened to pull it out and it had a label on the shaft with an email address. I sent him an email…. Crickets. The following season, after we took all the previous years lost and found to the golf school, the guy comes by… and I was working. So it was a year later when he decided to come for it.

Somebody left behind a XXIO 9 iron in June or July, had the phone number on it, a local number. I call and say somebody turned in your 9 iron, it's at the pro shop, behind the counter. Person thanks me very much. Weeks later, it's still there. I call again. Oh, thank you very much. Still there in November, I give another call. Thank you very much. We closed, the pro retired, who knows what happened to that 9 iron.

I left one or two wedges on the course but I got them back. But it's been many years since I did that (knock on wood). Once I managed to forget to take my bag off the cart but I realized it when I got home. I went back immediately and got them.

Typhoon Yup, we’re flypaper for morons. Our pro says “hard to believe but every year they are dumber than the last”.

Well, that’s reassuring to know, as I haven’t played there in about twenty years. Back then it was just a no pest strip for morons.
My buddy and I would always show up, early, as walk-ins and go right to the back nine (old course configuration) to play a reverse. We joked for years about whether they would ever pair us with golfers.

backinit That and the 30 other clubs in there… 90% are PW’s. It was funny that day because there is a black one in there. I said to him, thanks for narrowing it down, we have a black one in there🙄. I think you saw the lost and found bag when u came by.

It’s all shit clubs… Top Flite irons… just like 75% of the Headcovers we get are from the Top Flite Boxed sets. Nobody comes back for anything. They have no idea anything is missing because they know nothing about golf. My thinking is they don’t know they are missing the P because all the other clubs have numbers on them… who would think there is a club with a letter on it?

What DOES make me laugh is when a putter sits there. Right now we’ve had a TM Spider Tour putter in there for going on 3 weeks. Also a lot of clubs end up in the other bag on the cart. A lot of the lost clubs that never get turned in are in the other drunks golf bag.
