May have told this story before. After my shift at the driving range, walking to my car, somebody left a like new stand bag in parking lot .
Brought it in to lost and found, nobody claimed it and now is being used by my nephew.

Similar story but weirder… actually 2 stories!

Twilight group of shooters come up. They have a BRAND NEW Ping cart bag, paper still in the pockets. They said their friend was coming up and had clubs but no bag and he was going to use it. End of the night the bag was still there so we took it inside. Nobody ever called or came for it. End of the season someone asked if they could buy it. We said ok and sold the bag. The guy paid us for it and never came in to take the bag. The following year… same thing happens… this time a woman buys the bag and says she’ll pick it up next week. She also never returned. We finally sold it to one of the members who plays every day.
Guy leaves his bag in the parking lot at the range. Shooter bag. We pick it up and bring it to the shop. Nobody comes for it. We threw empty Fireball Nips in it where the clubs are. A month later a guy comes in looking for his clubs, they were his. End of the night guess where the clubs are… I’m the parking lot again🙄. I remember Driving by the bag and slamming on the cart brakes and saying “no way “ to myself. I looked inside and the fireball nips were still in it so I knew it was the same bag. Couple weeks later he came back for it. Hasn’t happened again….

I try to get them to raise the cart prices… they go up $1🙄🙄… really??? A dollar??? We have 70 carts that we used to gas up every 12-14 days. Now we gas them every 7-10 days. IF ANYTHING you should raise the prices just to cover the increase in gas right??

We need less people out there beating the place to death. Raise the price, get a better caliber of golfer, or at least get golfers vs Shooters. The pro says our cart prices are inline with other courses. But he’s looking at shit assed 9 holers. And he’s afraid of it costing seniors too much. Well I’m no rocket scientist but we DO have senior golf rates… how about senior cart rates???

Well, that’s reassuring to know, as I haven’t played there in about twenty years. Back then it was just a no pest strip for morons.
My buddy and I would always show up, early, as walk-ins and go right to the back nine (old course configuration) to play a reverse. We joked for years about whether they would ever pair us with golfers.

You are not going to get a better caliber of golfer by raising prices. The course pics you post show a dog track golf course, a shithole. Not something I would come back after playing the 1st time even for $20. It's why you get the players you have now. When you upgrade the course, and set 'dress' standards, the 'real' golfers will run those shooters off. The shooters will no longer feel welcome.
Fix the damn course....it looks like shit!!

Also, there is no such thing as a golf course charging a senior rate for carts.....greens fees only are reduced. Never heard of nor seen, cart rates reduced.

Bottom line is money/profit for the owner. Only when a new owner is in place will you be able to do what I've suggested/what needs to be done.

sdandrea1 I tried it a couple times when I first started there. I never made it all 9. There were backups like you wouldn’t believe. People just sitting on tee boxes drinking. I remember saying are you guys playing? They said, no you can play through, we’re good for now.🙄

That's probably true. There's a public town course about 10 minutes from my house that I used to play after work leagues in. They jacked up the prices at least 15 years ago and it didn't really matter. They never had much weekend traffic back then because they are a par 61 and not a "real" course, but they were always mobbed weekdays with retirees and leagues. Covid hit and now they are just always packed and it's not more retirees or leaguers but the "shooters". Price is kind of stupid for a so so condition exec course, but not much else around. They even expanded their parking lot to hold all the pandemic golfers.

The thing is it’s cheap so we get crappy golfers who dig up the tee boxes and fairways. If we get better and less golfers we can keep up with maintenance, there won’t be 6 practice swings with divots right next to each other X 375-425 people out there.

Eguller too many people discovered golf during covid. They were never taught etiquette, or apparently, how to play. They're out there to day drink with buddies and drive carts drunk.
@Typhoon ,I think you guys need 6 seat carts with a driver/ caddie who can keep the shooters of track for a 5 hour round. Make the bastards walk a little bit to their ball and hit it.
I know it ain't gonna happen, it is an idea...
