Mini drivers....11.5* & 13*, got me thinking. Too. Damn. Expensive!

But, what about those older driver heads, something like the Tri Metal types?🤔
Reckon Ima find out as they are cheap as dirt, brand new.
Not going to use from tee, from FW.😲GIRs here we come!!

Side note.....Eleven Golf out of the UK now has FW clubs out.
7* and 9* omg.....yes, FW!!

Par4QC My brother-in-law has a few of those TriMetals -- 8, 11, 13, some of the other fairways. They're not bad -- not as long as modern fairways, but not too far behind. Part of it is probably just the shallower face doesn't flex as much. I can even elevate the 11 degree off the grass on a good swing. And yeah -- they're cheap. Might even find some in the barrels at driving ranges.

Went through my driver shafts downstairs and looked up the profiles. Wanted to see what matched up with my rotation. Turns out I have around 7 shafts that match me, one that is close and one that is totally wrong.

Care to guess which one I’ve been using the last 2-3 years???🙄

ptjn1201 I'm looking for the driver heads in a lower loft. Or maybe even an old Titleist 975 driver head.

I used to hit the Orlimar Tri Metal 9* driver as a 3 wood and a trouble wood.I still have it. I should dig it back out. I could choke up on that thing and bend it around trees damn near 90*. But now that I'm oold I don't hit it far enough to reach the trees.

I'm pondering going to some offset clubs, which is really crazy because my bad shots were always hooks and my drivers had open faces. I don't slice now, but I tried my wife's offset Adams 7 wood a few times and I hit in incredibly straight with a nice little draw.
I bought two 7 woods off marketplace down here in Florida, one is offset. $15 each, almost $12 shipped. Only got to hit the offset Cobra twice but again, both were dead straight.
So I'm considering an offset driver to experiment. Why I don't know as I've been hitting 90% fairways lately. But pickings are slim in any offset modern driver. Cobra has some but they're all lightweight models. Tour Edge has some and my wife has a TE 16* offset driver at home, so I'll see how that goes.
Even components don't offer much in offset unless you want the "Heater" type stuff.

My answer to this is always the same. Go down to your local PIAS and find a single PING Eye2 in the club bin and throw a grip on it. Cheap way to try.

I have but I bought my wife an Acer driver head and it didn't seem to have much pop so I'm leary

I might have one. That looks a lot like my hickory putter. I never looked for a brand name. I'll check it out.

fatshot Surprising that you've not had one. I used to frequent all the local thrift/resale stores. I recall seeing these putters quite often, but just never bought one....which would have only been $1. I did have a Taylormade putter that was very similar, just no wooden shaft.

At $300-400 each now, I'm sure they didn't break Otey's arm while twisting, in order for him to start up again.😄Doubt they even had to twist any.

One thing that's always kept me from pursuing one is the wooden shaft. I'm 6'6" tall, and IDK how I'd be able to lengthen it. Also, I've seen some wooden shafted clubs that were warped.....!

That's 3 too many. Maybe 4. I can putt really well with my 8i.😲

I have also seen a lot of those clubs I those thrift stores.
