Equipment Pondering Thread

VigilanteTrail If you read between the lines, you'd see I didn't mean you.
Better read it again.
Par4QC Better read it again.
Typhoon I don’t know what people are thinking when they buy a p790 driving iron (2 iron). First off, you need clubhead speed to hit one. And anyone I see with that speed can’t hit anything straight.
For those who are playing golf in conditions where hitting the ball high is most efficient/effective, I agree - there's nothing that a driving iron allows you to do that can't be done better or more easily with a hybrid or fairway wood. For the conditions that I play in fairly regularly (links turf with a decent bit of breeze), though, a driving iron can be more effective, even for those less endowed with clubhead speed - the lower and stronger ballflight makes the results a bit more predictable.
I hit the ball to the moon. I’m going with a 19* KE4 FDI and am going to tip the heck out of a regular shaft instead of going standard stiff tip trimming to get as low flying a club as possible.
VigilanteTrail The Rock iron…the one club in the bag that is never in jeopardy or being benched.
I've been thinking about trying those Sub70 799 "irons," but they're pretty fugly and a little too expensive. Debating whether to order an Acer XDS Hybrid Iron head or two to try. I have a few sets of iron shafts of varying brands and flexes.
Intending to build Bang SF 13 through 21 woods. The main pondering is...when will I get the time?

I finally found a Ping G400 LST 10 degree head only! Super deal and I pick it up Thursday .
rsvman2 So, maybe for some people getting new equipment CAN make them better???
Of course it can. Equipment isn' making a 15 hdcp scratch but it can save a few strokes. I always played open faced and fade biased driver heads when I was younger even up to a few years ago. Now I'm playing a G400 SFT. If I still had to play the open faces I'd probably be 10 strokes higher, at least 5.
