😄 The Darkspeed LS.....has come and gone. Even if it was the shits of drivers!! Only thing comes close was the Smoke TD and it was almost a dead heat. Nicest drivers I've owned/hit. Kai'li Red in the Smoke and LinQ Red in the Darkspeed. Both great shafts and very similar.

Eguller There is just something about Cobra heads that makes me a sucker for trying them out. The reason I 'just had to' get the Aerojet, when it was not needed of course😉. Seems that no matter which shaft I use(same length, but not necessarily flex) it is so easy to hit the face dead center. The sound & feel is from childhood.....baseball off a wooden bat. You just know when you 'crushed' one.

The Callaway I had was the TD version and it was very similar, but imo, a bit more forgiving if not centered.
No problems finding fws with either.

azgreg I have not. Just drivers mainly and do have the LTDx 3 wd. right now, which is also of a similar sound. Very solid.

I still have a set of Cobra TWS baffler hybrids 2 through 6 in factory Aldila regular flex that are good to this day. My only hole in one came in 2008 with that 6 hybrid. I had the same clubs but the prior DWS version in stiff flex and sold them years back. Guy still has them.

I've hit several of the baffler hybrids over the years and they all have been solid and easy to hit.

Check out Callaway XR OS hybrids. I still have the 3&4 in my bag.

braveheart Those are really good. I had one until face cracked. Callaway replaced it with Rogue X which I still have, but I liked the XR OS a bit better.

I’m pondering having Steelfiber i95 stiffs pulled from an old set of Adams Pro Golds and either installing them in my PING G410’s or getting some Maltby heads (TS3, others? Suggestions welcomed).

The PINGs also would need to lie adjusted from blue (0.75 upright) to at least 1* flat. I’d also consider strengthening the lofts a degree or two.

Cool experiment. I'd consider doing a 'test' club, say 7i, to see if the whole set is deserving of a redo.
SF I95 stiffs require some ummmph to make them work nicely. Good luck.

I’d likely be better off with reg over stiff but ……. I don’t have any issue when I pull out those Adams Pro Golds and give them a go.

Which Maltby iron heads to you guys suggest?

My previous gamers are the G410’s (still own) with my current being the Callaway AI Smoke (took advantage of the 2x trade in). The profile of the AL Smoke is preferred whereas the G410 forgiveness is fantastic. Anything Maltby in between those two?

Cwing KE4 Max is probably the most Ping G-like although probably not as large looking. Kind of a bargain at $30 these days.

The TS1-IM is in between the TM P770 and P790 IMO. Love the look and feel of this one

The TS3 is maybe more like a Srixon or Cally forged cavity back? Also a favorite with very soft feel.

If they still have the TS2 that's a mid-large size forgiving cavity back iron.

I haven't tried all the Maltby stuff, but all of the above are very good.

Ke4 Max looks bigger to me than the G410. Maybe it's the top line.

sdandrea1 The KE4 Max does have a thick topline. I haven't played a G iron in years, but I remember them being huuuge lol. KE4 Max also uses 17-4 steel which Ping always used a lot. Maybe the STi2 would be more Ping-like? I have not played that model.

Yeah, starting with the G25, PING went to a drastically reduced sole width and top line. The G20 irons were humongously ugly and we're the last of that breed until the G Max came out. Starting with the G400, they took on that nice look pictured above. So the Max line replaced the older G's and the new G series has more of a player's look at address.

I know the rebooted eye 2 wedges a few years ago seemed to be a bust but full sets.. hmmmm

I’d pay a deposit to get on that list! I’d “modernize” the lofts but otherwise stick to the low tech casting process.

I suggested that to a PING sales rep about 10 years ago. He laughed out loud. Thought I was kidding.. I'd order a set today.
