What a finish by Noah Lyles in the 100m dash! I wasnโt even focused on him as it looked like the winner was coming from lanes 3 or 2.
Other Olympic stuff besides golf
johnnydoom What a finish by Noah Lyles
Yeah, he sometimes gets off to an average start, but finishes very strong. Great race.
I watched the finals of the womens table tennis last night. Pretty incredible. I could barely keep up with the ball movement.
Katie Ledecky and Ryan Crouser amazing Olympic feats!
Watched quite a bit of coverage, Dish has a number of Olympic channels. Lots of great stories.

One of the surprises of this 2024 Paris Olympics. Kristen Faulkner from Homer, Alaska to Harvard to NYC to Paris Gold in the Women's Road Race.

Summer McIntosh is Canada's amazing story this year, and maybe all of the Olympics.
Local girl Chloe Daniels winning silver in Rugby 7's on a 5th ranked team, barely losing to #1, but beating #2+3 to get there is also a good local story.
There's already a Gold Medal winner (2022) from here in women's hockey (Erin Ambrose)
Spuzz I know nothing about it, but in looking at summaries it shows that Ethan Katzberg won the Men's Hammer Throw.

johnnydoom Ethan Katzberg won the Men's Hammer Throw.
First medal for Canada ever in that event, iirc.
He's from British Columbia. Cool dude.
Iโm really excited for my neighbors daughter, who is a part of a womenโs beach volleyball team (Taryn Kloth/Kristen Nuss). They made it to the round of 16 and play Canada later today I believe.

I've watched a little handball, table tennis, badminton, sprints, swimming, basketball, soccer. Mostly interested in women's soccer to see how that plays out. They have a really good team!
johnnydoom Ethan Katzberg won the Men's Hammer Throw.
We watched that last night on Scottish television. He was the first man up. He flung that thing a mile. Nobody else came anywhere near his throw.
johnnydoom I was a shot put/discus thrower in a previous life. No way could I ever have done the hammer.
I see the shot putter won his 3rd gold!!
Par4QC I couldn't compete in any of those. I'm short and stocky with plenty of power, but I can't generate the speed and momentum that taller people can create. And my reach is 6 inches shorter than my height.
johnnydoom In that previous life, I was 3-4" taller and 100# heavier, not fat at all. Practice as much as I did, but there are limitations. At Crouser's stage, it's a matter of only inches now for improvement.

Mondo in the pole vault is in a class by himself, trying to break his own WR ....WHICH HE DID!!
And Val Allman wins another discus gold medal!
DonM And that was not even a PB. And still way off, by 2m, the world record that has stood 38 years! Like the Beamon jump, that throw was otherworldly at the time.(some do say 'enhanced' though).
I haven't watched any of the Olympics so far, and won't. Just read the 'blurbs' on the internet. I did watch the last 2 holes of Scottie's win though.
Par4QC So you have watched some of the Olympics

Bravopilot I always get mixed up with details.
So, yes and no, is best I can answer.
Had it not been on TGC, I most likely would not have looked. 1st time I've had any TV on for a couple weeks.
Hermit life, almost.
Watched replay of Egypt vs France mens soccer. ...wildly entertaining game!
The Spain vs. Morocco match was also very good. Should be good final matches!
Just saw that the U.S. Women's soccer team won again. Work kept me from watching any today, but in general I really love their attacking style.
Cole Hocker just won the 1500 in epic style, USA also got the bronze!

USA Women's soccer with a quality win vs Germany.....a bit fortunate at the end with Naehr making a jumping kick save to keep out a goal....and the German keeper making a critical error on Smith's goal.
Am I a bad American for rooting against the Men's basketball team?
Looks like USA gets Brazil in women's soccer. Spain had some uncharacteristic blunders in their match with Brazil......they took advantage and had some nice counter- attacks!
garyt1957 I don't know. I'm not rooting against them, but I really don't care whether they, or just about anyone else, wins or not. I have watched a few hours of Olympic coverage this year, which is more than the last 30 years combined. It was special to watch when I was young and now it has little meaning to me. I'm just a jaded old man, at least when it comes to spectating.

Watching the US women's discuss silver medalist Valerie Allman wind up and throw was a real treat.
LogicalOne part of a womenโs beach volleyball team
Have long been a volleyball fan and don't truly consider Beach Volleyball in the same regard but, I do like the uniforms.

Can't really respond yes or no. How come?

Sometimes when I'm watching the US play another country where I know the victory would mean so much more to that country then the US I find myself siding with the other country. I was watching the Us/Canada women's beach volleyball and found myself leaning toward Canada, knowing the US had another team still in. The US BB team is the biggest baddest dude on the block and seeing somebody upset them is pretty cool.
raggmann54 Winning is always great.
Smiles. All around.
Man, you can almost smell the sea.
