garyt1957 I don't know. I'm not rooting against them, but I really don't care whether they, or just about anyone else, wins or not. I have watched a few hours of Olympic coverage this year, which is more than the last 30 years combined. It was special to watch when I was young and now it has little meaning to me. I'm just a jaded old man, at least when it comes to spectating.
Other Olympic stuff besides golf

Watching the US women's discuss silver medalist Valerie Allman wind up and throw was a real treat.
LogicalOne part of a women’s beach volleyball team
Have long been a volleyball fan and don't truly consider Beach Volleyball in the same regard but, I do like the uniforms.
garyt1957 Am I a bad American for rooting against the Men's basketball team?
Can't really respond yes or no. How come?

Sometimes when I'm watching the US play another country where I know the victory would mean so much more to that country then the US I find myself siding with the other country. I was watching the Us/Canada women's beach volleyball and found myself leaning toward Canada, knowing the US had another team still in. The US BB team is the biggest baddest dude on the block and seeing somebody upset them is pretty cool.
raggmann54 Winning is always great.
Smiles. All around.
Man, you can almost smell the sea.
That was strange. I took a brief break from work and sat to watch a Taekwondo gold medal match. I don't know anything about the discipline or the rules of the competition. In the first round the Korean and Azerbaijan dude struck each others legs in a kick and the Azerbaijani hit the mat, got treatments on the leg and then got up and either could barely walk or acted like he could barely walk. I would have thought that would have been the end of the fight with the Azerbaijani pretty much unable to defend himself. But the fight went on with several stoppages for the guy to get treatment on his leg while the Korean guy just kept racking up points during the brief periods of action. They finally stopped it much of the way through the 2nd round and I don't know if it was because the official decided to, or if the fighter finally forfeited. Either way it seemed silly to continue after the initial injury.

After watching a little bit of women’s weight lifting earlier now I’m watching two very feminine looking women from India and Germany in the table tennis quarterfinals. Quite a contrast.
They’re probably big, fierce, and athletic enough to whip me in a fair fight, but they look really nice on TV.
The German woman won. Now there’s another quarterfinal match that also features Germany vs India.

johnnydoom I was just reading about the women wrestlers, and how the 1 from India has been barred from competition, after she won her way into the gold medal match. Overweight (2nd violation) by 100g..
There was pic included of her and the one that will replace her in the gold medal match.
JMO, but she would not have medaled in the men's pole vault either.
Team table tennis heating up
PA-PLAYA After reading what her trainers did to her trying to get her down to weight (including blood removal), and even then all of that for naught, she ended up in the hospital.
Crazy.
From what I've heard that's STOP even at the college level. Guys sitting in saunas with no water trying to make weight, dangerous stuff. They cut her hair, why not shave it off?
Not sure where to post this, as it's not something i bought, it was a gift, so...
A friend went to the Paris Olympics for the dressage. She said the heat was brutal. She also decided that she needed to bring me something from there...
It came with the removable pin.
This one doesn't come off as far as I know.
I now have a light hat for golf. I'll probably be wearing this at the larger courses I end up playing.
Not a daily wear.
