sdandrea1 What's interesting is all the conflicting swing methods being demonstrated/taught on-line and in person
Most of these methods would be categorized as style. I can play decent golf and shoot good scores with my natural vertical down swing. That’s my natural ‘style’.
But I’m all about hitting solid shots. I’ve clanged the ball around and broke 80 too many times to remember. And I can hustle my ball around the course with different style swings.
I do believe though there is an optimum position for solid ball striking with the shaft in line with the trail forearm at last parallel in the downswing. Or as close as possible.
All good players get close to this. Problem for me and many others is how do you get in that position? If you’re real good you can have any kind of backswing and drop it in the slot on the way down.
Most of us hackers will find this difficult to do intuitively. It’s natural in a baseball swing. But once we bend over all bets are off. Therein lies the problem with the golf swing.
