Bravopilot Her first shot after the ball found the water out of the bunker needed to be at least 15 feet past the pin. Two-putt from there would have given her a 6.

Obviously a 6 is not a good score, which is likely why she was apparently trying hard not only to hit the green but to get it close and probably also to leave the ball below the hole.

I get that instinct, but if she had carded a 6 rather than a 10 she might have still been able to compete and potentially even win the tournament. She would only have been four over on the round to that point. Instead, she went seven over on a single hole!

rsvman2 she might have still been able to compete and potentially even win the tournament.

It's the U.S. Open, basically the same as the men's.
3-4 under tomorrow will put her playing the weekend.

    But damn...an 80??😲

Anybody have Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko tied for 139th at ten over par on their bingo card?

Asterisk "little star" Talley great young CA player seems to keep the situation in perspective. I like her game and swing!

I'll be rooting for Andrea Lee today!

Looks like Minjee may have it in the bag by the turn if this keeps up!

azgreg epic collapse....Saso was really the only one near the lead to play well! She's got some power, hits it high enough, and with enough spin where she had the stuff to get it done. She hit some really good shots!

Last time we had a U.S. Women's Open contest I chose Yuka Saso and put her on follow in the ESPN app so I could track her progress. She didn't win that week (I think she got a top 10), but I never took her off follow so I still end up seeing her score every time I see the Women's leaderboard on the app. It doesn't seem like she's been playing all that great, at least on the Women's PGA tour in the interim, but apparently she rises up for the U.S. Open. In the early rounds her par saving putts were phenomenal. I didn't get to watch any of the weekend play.

johnnydoom The slo-mo of her driver swing was jaw-dropping. Any of us would probably be in the ER lf we tried to swing a club that way.
