johnnydoom jmo, but I think a couple of the gals will take less money than they can get elsewhere, but will demand 4 year contracts with no cut/no trade clauses. Not sure that's been done in the WNBA.
The fact of what the team is and where they appear to be heading may weigh more heavily than just dollars for some.
They all know CC is not selfish, but also know and see those that are, on many other teams. For me, that would trump(excuse me😆) a money grab.
CC is in a good place, it's where she wanted to be drafted. She will command whatever it is on paper now, and probably never quibble. She knows the cap and how she affects it. If someone on the team is going to make more money than her, I don't think that will be a bother. Esp. with her outside deals.
But she is never going to take a reduction, nor offer one up. If her play this season is in line with the past, we may see the 1st ever 'lifetime' WNBA contract with her next season.
These gals all came into the WNBA knowing what the pay was. They knew they could get regular jobs probably making more, esp. someone like Lexi. So, imo, it's just not about the money for most of them. They may have talked that way, but that contradicts what I just pointed out....they did not come for the money. And now, everyone got 300%+/- raises.
Not the time now to be greedy after showing just how cheap one would work. 😉
