My opinion, and that’s all it is, is that the Fever haven’t been “playing” better. It looks like to me that Boston, Howard, and Hull all said screw it, we’re going to bang on the other teams the same way they do to us. And as it turns out, they are stronger as a group than the corresponding players they’ve faced. So far, the refs have been allowing it.

Not really, I just think they try to even it out. A lot of missed calls lately, going both ways. Boston is racking up a lot every game now, to the point she's being sat for spells, when she is needing to be in.

Indiana is #2 in team fouls, avg. 21/game. Fouls beat them last night.....9 in the 4th quarter! 24 total, the 11th time this season they've had 20+/game.
No wonder other teams 'go after' them every game. It's not just when CC is playing. Sparks forced them last night and it paid well.

johnnydoom If Caitlin is going to be the 3rd option then Aari would need to be on the floor with her most of the time. Lexi and Sophie would have less playing time overall.

Yep, Lexi would be out of the starting lineup. Probably wouldn't work because CC is so bad on defense. But if she's not always handling the ball on offense maybe she could put more effort into defense. They're the same size, Hull is an inch taller and 2 lb.s lighter.

garyt1957 Caitlin already averages more than 3 fouls per game, from out front. Imagine how long she'd last under the basket if playing Lexi's spot. Not to mention players taking the easy, cheap shots in there. At her, not the rim.😄

Par4QC Got to believe the league is a diversity write-off and was never intended to be a for profit business. Some very funny quips about the league in there. A level of mismanagement like a clearance sale. Like a Game of Thrones episode with all smiles to the front and daggers to the back. 😆

Par4QC Most of that sounded like a load of crap honestly. There is NO way Indiana has considered trading CC. It would be the equivalent of the Bulls trading prime Michael Jordan. I don't believe that's ever been considered. She is responsible for 90% of their revenue.
The conspiracy theory part is pretty stupid too. But people do stupid stuff, so who knows? I'm sure the league would like to be less dependent on one player but the idea they're openly sabotaging her seems ridiculous. Are the players out to get her? Absolutely. The league? I doubt it.

I was saying that too when I believed the league actually wanted to succeed. But with the owners doing nothing and Nike (supposedly with 8 years invested in Caitlin), which should have more influence over the league than any other entity outside of the owners, not doing anything in particular to showcase her to the max, I no longer believe it. Looked at the TV schedule and it had something like 5 Fever games scheduled for broadcasts and only two non Fever games scheduled for broadcast in a two week period. TV knows where the money is at, the rest of the league is just a token to them right now.

jmo, but I think she quits before any trading is done.
She can do much more outside basketball, and already has 'lifetime' money in the bank.

If that should happen, the WNBA will cease, even though it existed prior to her. That many fans will not have short memories. It would trickle down to the NCAA also, imo.

I doubt Nike has any say in league matters, period. Why would they?

Pretty sure the league decides which games are shown on TV with some input from the networks

One would hope that the entity dependent on the advertising money would have the most influence in the scheduling. If not, the deal definitely won't be as lucrative for the sports entity as it otherwise could be. They obviously do need to have coordination in order to give advanced schedules, but the league is basically accepting a fixed amount whereas the networks need to try to maximize ad revenue. Unless the league is willing to guarantee some level of revenue to the networks, it wouldn't make sense for the networks to let the leagues determine the schedule.

Somebody* wanted (41/44) Fever games. And they are getting them.

149 WNBA games(this includes the playoffs) will be televised this season. 41 are the Fever.

*We know who the 'somebody' was, don't we? Look at the All-Star voting.
Not to mention who wants to advertise products, and when.

I will add that everyone knew where Paige was going to end up. I'd have to check the TV schedule to see how many of the Wings games were scheduled for this season, knowing such.

garyt1957 In my mind, it was probably an equal 'offer/ask' deal. Networks know who and what will draw their revenue(advertising) in also.

Today's Sky game was not televised, tomorrow's Fever game will be. Both mid morning games.
