But, got a lot of 'old women' still playing. They will be weeded out.

Also wonder what all the new teams are causing with the new agreement coming up at season's end. The players are all thinking they will be getting windfall contracts. They aren't looking at the overall pic at all, only the pocket money for them.
They will be having a rude awakening. At best, they may get double, but I doubt it's more than 25% raises.
And Angel will have to get a job in the off season to pay rent.😆

azgreg I didn't even know they were for sale until I heard that they sold out. Seems like I hear so-and-so's merch sold out in minutes or hours no matter who it is in the WNBA. I'm starting to wonder if they stock just enough for family and friends to buy when they launch. But I do imagine that the player shoe collectors would highly desire a Caitlin Clark model.

As for me, the only clothing/apparel item I have way more than I need of is baseball caps. Have all sorts of them that I wear (I don't intentionally collect them) and I seem to buy them at a rate faster than I wear them out. The only hat I've "collected" is for sentimental value. A painters cap I bought in Maui on my honeymoon which has no real value, but is sentimental. Waiting for the Caitlin baseball cap to come out so I can wear it backwards and pretend I can play basketball.

johnnydoom looking at their top 20 all time scorers list, there are several that I have no idea who they are or what they did.

I was thinking about this last night and realized, that at least for me, the only player that grew in stature from college through the WNBA was Lisa Leslie. At least from my perspective, she garnered more buzz in general sports news than anyone on the top 20 scorers than perhaps Griner. She doesn't seem to get much attention these days, but she is the only other player that comes to mind besides Caitlin and Griner, that was able to achieve a high level of popularity (and/or notoriety for Griner) outside of the WNBA bubble.

It may be an asskicking tonight if the others do not continue their great play. Even with CC in, it would still be a hard game to win. Hoping to see another 4th quarter out these gals tonight.

garyt1957 I anticipate it's mostly Iso plays ala the NBA. Trying to emulate Steph and watch how he moves off the ball, at least in his prime he did or any of the greats like Reggie Miller, etc. sadly there is not much of that from what I see.

Drive and kick could work if her defender sags/helps!

Hope so too. Supposedly Minnesota is a pretty good defensive team and they won't need to make adjustments for CC. Hopefully the offense will click without her. They still have plenty of weapons if they play together and Aari seems to be pretty good at distributing from the point and at drawing the defense out. Makayla might need to put in some major minutes with no Dantas or they're going to have to play small some times.

May be the best WNBA game I've seen. And the best Fever team I've seen.(😉sorry CC)

The whistles were very odd though. Up until the 4th, only Howard had shot any FTs for the Fever, and not many were taken by the Lynx. Kudos to those refs for 'letting them play ball'. And to be sure, there were plenty of fouls not called, both ways.

A lot of cash for some of those gals; almost as much as their whole season.

Glad the Fever won, but I thought it was a pretty ugly game. I'm just not a fan of physical basketball and never enjoyed watching it played that way. However, that's the way the refs called it and the Fever took full advantage. They took what their coach said to heart, executed it, and won a game that was important to them against the best team in the league.

It was very low scoring, due to both teams being way off. But Howard was all over Collier, which is what actually won them the game. The Fever gals are just streaky when it comes to shooting though. Not sure how the rest of the season is going to play out for them, in that respect. Sophie doesn't shoot a lot in some games, but fired away last night seeing the others were not hitting. Lexi has had 2 bad games in a row.
And yes, it got physical as they will when refs keep the whistles in check. The head ref last night looked new to me, may be the reason. And 1st game I've seen with 2 male refs, btw.
Let's see how many FTs A'ja gets tomorrow night at Indy. 😉

Par4QC Yeah that video is what I don't like. I am glad to see Aliyah and other Fever players going ahead and doing what all of the other teams have been doing and getting away with, but I don't enjoy the getting away with it part. Some of the reason I never liked watching Shaq and LeBron in the NBA. To his credit LeBron at least has other elements to his game and probably comes as close to the mythical player I describe earlier in the thread as being able to hit all shots from all angles at any (practical) distance. But I never liked the way he could just bull his way to the basket with no fear of an offensive foul being called.

You can definitely called for an offensive foul while the defensive player is moving so long as the offensive player is initiating contact. Otherwise the person bringing the ball up the court could just continually run straight into the defender every time and foul them out. That was definitely an offensive foul on AB.
