Walterjn So have you used the radar when hitting balls at the range? How is your speed and accuracy now?

Typhoon define accuracy... ball direction? Or ball striking?? Direction, well, they all go away from me toward the other end of the driving range😉😁.. ball striking, still needs a lot of work on that. My last range session, I hit 47 balls. Of those, 28 of them had a smash of 1.20 or above. Only 7 of them were below 1.00.
These shots are the ones I keep record of; everything that doesn't register gets deleted. It doesn't show more than one or 2 stats for the shot. Most of the time it doesn't show distance, club speed, or smash. Some of them were practice swings as well.

Walterjn I mean bottom line, do you see where it’s helping you on the course? Make sure you don’t lose your swing by just trying to swing hard.

Typhoon my longer irons are easier to hit, my 4 and 5 irons. My 5 iron had 7 shots with a smash under 1.20. My swing speed with it is between 90- 96 mph, without feeling like I'm trying. My 4 iron, I can get the speed up to 100+, but my ball striking suffers. So I'm working on gaining the speed so that when I'm not trying, my speed is up there and I can see about keeping my ball striking up. My best strikes were when my club speed was 90-93, granted I have plenty of piss poor striking at those speeds as well.
Here's my last range session 4 iron, with a few 5 iron shots.

Walter do you see much difference in shot quality? For example my driver swing speed is around 95-97 on normal on course driver swings. Yes I could ramp it up over 110 easily but I might not ever find the ball and my back would probably suffer. Wondering if this is making golf better, same, or worse? You are certainly dedicated and working hard. Would love to hear how this pays off in your golf game

bigshank not sure about shot quality. When playing at my little course, I have had to take one club less for most holes. I haven't had a chance lately to hit a range that I can hit driver at. I'm thinking about changing that either tomorrow, or next week. I'd like to play a larger course and see if I'm able to get some real world testing done.
I'll start with the range 1st, and see what I can do there.

Walterjn With one club less are you hitting more greens in regulation? I don’t know if you keep any stats but GIR will lead to an easier round and lower scores.

Typhoon par 3 holes require a little more accuracy than I currently have. That said, yesterday I went around 2x. One off the forward tees, and once off the back tees. I carded a 5 over from the forward, and 4 over from the back. My strikes weren't quite that great on a few holes, my chipping made up for that.

Hitting a shorter iron into a green should help with accuracy. Also one of the caveats of modern Tech. You’re more accurate hitting 6 iron into a green than a 4 iron.

Typhoon yes, I still have to work on my club face control...some swings the face is great and the ball goes somewhere close(15-20 yards) to where I'm wanting. Other times, the face not where it should be and the ball goes straight but to the right. Landing 40 yards off line.. in play but not in a decent spot. Some shots are only 10 yards offline and I'm good. I'm trying to get to the point that my offline shots are 10 yards, not 40.

I hit the range yesterday morning. I got a large bucket, and worked my way through the bag. When I had about 60 balls left, I fired up the flightscope mevo, and hit 8 with my 3 wood just to start off. After that I went to town with my driver. I was working on swinging my driver as fast as possible. Aside from a few practice swings that it caught, I had only one swing under 100.
I had a small handful of shots make it out to 230 carry. Most were 215-220ish. I only had a small handful that were so poorly hit that they were under 200 yards, most were either topped, or almost skied.

A lot of the spin was probably side spin, as most sure went to the right, hard. The ones that went fairly straight had decent spin rates around 2-3k. I know, driver spin should be down around 2-2.5k, and not much higher. Then again, I've only been playing for 3 years, and I'm trying to get as much driver distance off the tee as I can. I've also noticed that the lowest launch angle that reached 230 was 12.8°, most were sitting right around 14°.
I WILL learn to read this data, and figure it all out...

After my range session, I went and played my little course. With a slight tailwind, I was able to get my 5 iron out to 200 yards. I didn't believe that the 1st wasn't a fluke, so I hit a 2nd and flew it just as far as the 1st one, just to the right by about 15 yards...

                  9 days later

                  OK, just an update.
I was able to do a speed session this afternoon, my 80% speed with one pineapple was sitting in the 90s. With both, it was sitting in the high 80s.
My 90% speed with 1 was sitting in low 100s, with both it was high 90s. My 100% speed with 1, was 110+, and with both low 100s.
My ramp down swings with 1, at 100% were 110-120, and my bare shaft speed was constantly 120-130s with a high of 145.
My gains are not leaps and bounds, but smaller steps, smaller with more consistency in the speeds.
                  PapaD TL;DR.
Swing getting faster, just smaller increases.

I'm starting to think I need to take about 10 warm up swings before I start a speed session. Maybe about 60% speed. I was swinging about 80% and was getting the same speeds with both pineapples as I was with one.
Yesterday, I had a speed session, my 1st 10 swings at 80% with one pineapple were sitting in the upper 80s. My 10 with both at 80%, were also in the upper 80s- low 90s speed wise.
It honestly felt like I wasn't even trying to get to there at that point. Even at 90%, it felt like I wasn't trying hard to get to the upper 90swith both.
My speeds are definitely consistent with the bare shaft at the end I saw only one swing speed below 130, and that was at 122. I believe my high speed of yesterday was 142, with consistency 133ish...

PapaD TL;DR. Feeling easier to get to upper 90s- low 100s.

Today, after my speed session, I grabbed my driver. Just for shits and giggles. My high swing speed without a ball was 113. Then I grabbed a foam ball and tried again. At that point my high swing speed was 95... the foam ball was bouncing off the wall and going straight back.
I need to go sew about hitting my driver and get my brain to release the mental block... that way I can increase my driver speed.
Well, I'm pretty sure it's all mental... we shall see
