ode I love the SEC. Don't care if Alabama is in or not, but your argument is much more sound than the argument the announcers kept trying to make that "you don't want to punish a team for playing in it's conference championship". Sounds like a wonderful argument from a "fairness" standpoint, but if policy, whether formal or informal, it incentivizes conferences to try and fix the outcome of their championship game in order that both teams can get into the playoff if you already know one is in regardless of the outcome. It also makes the conference championship game as meaningless as the bowl games the playoff was supposed to replace.
