Bravopilot I would have said after he loses to Mississippi State next week, but it's pretty clear to me now that MS State may be one of the few easy games Florida will have this year. No matter who their coach is, they're unlikely to get through the stretch of Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss with a win.
College football
johnnydoom Yes, and Nick Saban called for Miss State to lose to Toledo today. So far, he is called it right.

Bravopilot Florida State paid Memphis $1.2 million to go to Tallahassee today and beat them. Mississippi State paid the same amount to bring Toledo to Starkville and appears to be in for the same fate.
johnnydoom It is big business for some schools, especially SEC schools. They all must bring in a lot just for TV.
Bravopilot
I thought I read somewhere his buyout is about $39M.
azgreg Not too bad
Bravopilot
Ex college coach is the best job in America.
azgreg USA Today is reporting $26M buyout and may have mitigations
Bravopilot
Just read that also. Not sure where I got $39M from though. Anyways, $26M isn't a bad days work either.

Yipsy
The boosters are paying the $26M. Norvell's buyout at FSU is $65M. Yikes!
Yipsy My theory is that they saw other scores and noted that Mississippi State was getting embarrassed at home by Toledo. They thought maybe you just can't be too careful with these smaller schools.
Not really sure why Tennessee would do such a thing unless someone from Kent State was mouthing off some really stupid stuff. It is nasty as described and not warranted even if it's still only the 1st quarter.
Mixed reaction to yesterday. Memphis played fairly well and got the win against dysfunctional FSU. My adopted school (current and future school of my kids) and my state's university, Mississippi State was thoroughly trashed by a Toledo team that has been very good in recent years but shouldn't be able to come into SEC territory and win. I fear that Mississippi State has traded places with Vanderbilt.

He also exuberantly chose WVU over Pitt. LOL
fatshot Pitt recruited and signed the QB from the local high school where I taught. He's a senior this year....threw for 325 yards and ran for 185 last night.
Well, he may have to wait for quite some time with Holstein firmly entrenched as the starter, with years of eligibility left. I guess the letter of intent by the QB you mentioned won't mean much. He won't even need to enter "The Portal"... LOL
