Bravopilot Florida State paid Memphis $1.2 million to go to Tallahassee today and beat them. Mississippi State paid the same amount to bring Toledo to Starkville and appears to be in for the same fate.

johnnydoom It is big business for some schools, especially SEC schools. They all must bring in a lot just for TV.
Bravopilot
I thought I read somewhere his buyout is about $39M.
azgreg Not too bad
Bravopilot
Ex college coach is the best job in America.
azgreg USA Today is reporting $26M buyout and may have mitigations
Bravopilot
Just read that also. Not sure where I got $39M from though. Anyways, $26M isn't a bad days work either.
Yipsy
The boosters are paying the $26M. Norvell's buyout at FSU is $65M. Yikes!
Yipsy My theory is that they saw other scores and noted that Mississippi State was getting embarrassed at home by Toledo. They thought maybe you just can't be too careful with these smaller schools.
Not really sure why Tennessee would do such a thing unless someone from Kent State was mouthing off some really stupid stuff. It is nasty as described and not warranted even if it's still only the 1st quarter.
Mixed reaction to yesterday. Memphis played fairly well and got the win against dysfunctional FSU. My adopted school (current and future school of my kids) and my state's university, Mississippi State was thoroughly trashed by a Toledo team that has been very good in recent years but shouldn't be able to come into SEC territory and win. I fear that Mississippi State has traded places with Vanderbilt.
Bravopilot Yes, and Nick Saban called for Miss State to lose to Toledo today.
He also exuberantly chose WVU over Pitt. LOL
fatshot Pitt recruited and signed the QB from the local high school where I taught. He's a senior this year....threw for 325 yards and ran for 185 last night.
Well, he may have to wait for quite some time with Holstein firmly entrenched as the starter, with years of eligibility left. I guess the letter of intent by the QB you mentioned won't mean much. He won't even need to enter "The Portal"... LOL

Oh, I can definitely see him entering the Portal! He's been a starter since his sophomore year, and probably won't like sitting, so he'll be looking around for a better deal.....not sure why he signed at Pitt in the first place if they have an established starter who has lots of eligibility left.

More than likely, Holstein hadn't transferred when he signed his letter of intent.
johnnydoom I would have said after he loses to Mississippi State next week, but it's pretty clear to me now that MS State may be one of the few easy games Florida will have this year.
Well that turned out to be pathetically prophetic.
Arkansas - Auburn game just had 4 turnovers in 6 plays.
TN and OK are beating the heck out of each other in a very physical game. I’m thinking now that no SEC team will be even close to healthy come playoff time. The pressure to get through the gauntlet along with shallower depth created by NIL is going to deplete all of them.
johnnydoom Looking at the top teams' schedules, I agree, or they will be so tough nobody else has chance in the expanded playoffs.
Yipsy I wouldn't overturn. Not sure what they saw in the review, but it looked to me like the receiver had both hands on the ball, held it securely, and was down initially inside the end line.
ESPN Analytics give my Mississippi State Bulldogs a 1.9% to beat Texas today. Sadly, that sounds about right.
Looking forward to dogs vs tide tonite.
Bulldogs gettin' bullied by 'Bama!
Fortunate to only be down 23 at half. Didn’t see this coming. First possession of 2nd half will be huge
Missed some of the first half and all of the audio. Can’t help but wonder when the last time Georgia trailed by more than 2 touchdowns?
Really surprised at this score. Bama is just kicking...
Penn State finally got it rolling in second half. We are Penn State.
(2 of my sons went there). Back when you had to pay for it.
Bama forgot to suit up for the second half!
darpar Yes, and yet the AP ranks them #1 this week. Jumped Texas. Roll Tide.
One of the funniest endings for one of these I've seen
