Sums it all up for me when talking about Steve!!

Made the 'little guys' always seem special.
I remember chatting with him about the No Brainer and getting rough drawings sent to me in emails. Plans were originally for a Camo head of a different style, but due to the success of the LB130(over 3000 sold!), he went with the NB designed head. This was in 2010 at the same time he talked about having an epiphany about a new wedge head while walking the beach, the OMG, as it turned out.

Wonder what he ever did with that storage unit full of old clubs??

Sad to hear. Seems like his last few years weren't that great.
I remember once I commented that the No Brainer (I think that's what it was) looked like the Krank Rage ( or something). Man, I got this passionate email about all the inside info on the No Brainer. I really don't remember much of it, just that he took my comment so seriously.

That first wood (a real wood☺) in this pic is a Stan Thompson Ginty Steamer. Steve designed that when he worked for Stan Thompson. What Steve learned from Stan Thompson served him well going forward into the higher tech driver era.

Stan Thompson some history and how Stan started. Most G'Buzzers probably don't know much about Stan and Kenneth Smith. I worked on persimmon back in the 80's so I might have a better understanding from a historical standpoint. I thought some would like to know more. This is during the time frame when Stan was in SoCal moved from Missouri that Steve Almo worked for Stan Thompson.

Damn, Steve got me started on components and club building in general back in the Bang days. First club heads I ever got from him were several Dark Matters and a white Prototype. Kept up with him through the years, loved all of the Geek designs. Still keep a Fail Safe 3 and DCT 5 wood in the bag. Steve was always willing to take time out of day to chat and deal with all my random questions, definitely a great man. Sad news indeed.

Met Steve in Mesquite at the Long Drive worlds.. Talked to him several times since. STILL have a Mellow Yellow 5 wood in the bag and a couple Big Bang 450's lying about. Shot craps with him in Mesquite. Good guy, very passionate about his products and golf. He will be missed. RIP Steve.

I am always on the lookout for a 10.5 DCT if you have one laying around. Not really a LD loft but, I broke my last one and the 9° didn't suit me well.

DC300 What lofts do you have? I’m thinking of picking up a Vizion 50 shaft to hit at the range. Not sure about putting it in my 9 degree SIM and Turing it down to 7 or putting it in a dedicated LD head.

This feels like quite a loss to the component industry, in spite of the fact that it seems like Almo was done designing driver heads. Really like my BOMs and DCT.

The few times I talked to Steve, he was always helpful and had so many stories. I would call with a 2 minute question and end up on the phone for an hour. He will be missed.

Nice gesture, if you have something in 8.5-10.5 degrees, I would love to put one back in play occasionally. Just yesterday I was cleaning up my office and came across a Geek headcover with my cracked No-Brainer head in it. I had a DCT in play for a few years and absolutely loved it until it too cracked at the hosel. The replacement Steve sent just did not contain the same magic.

AdamMH it seems like Almo was done designing driver heads. Really like my BOMs and DCT.

When I was involved in Senior LD, the BOM was used quite a bit. He was good for the game. Nice gesture DC300. 👍

AdamMH Almo’s BOM and DCT, Mike’s Nemesis and 455 got me into the LD world and building my own driver’s. One of the best things I’ve ever done.
