The 2015 Callaway GBB is, imo, the best "modern" driver Callaway has ever produced. Although I'm not exactly a fan of the dull matte finish on the crown, there is no denying that it ticks every box that I was looking for when I purchased it two seasons ago. Within 5 rounds of playing it, I was completely sold on the performance.
The Epic driver is a huge regression for Callaway imo. In their quest to be innovative and cutting edge, they whiffed terribly with such a standard of technology that only the top echelon of players could possibly take advantage of.
There will be exceptions here and there with rare reviews touting the latest and greatest Callaway offering befitting of its name, but the bottom line (sales and performance reviews overall) will remind the company to go back to the things that made them one of the better options.
And I must clarify one tidbit that I personally whiffed on myself. I do not have the Fusion model, but rather the 2015 GBB model. I misspoke in a few posts earlier. The 2015 GBB has been in my bag now for roughly 1-1/2 seasons, and it kicks the shit out of the Epic as far as performance.
The 2015 GBB can be had at Callaway Preowned (used) for as little as $150. Those in the market would be wise to forgo the Epic and take a chance with the 2-year old model, at well over 1/2 the expense. Find the right shaft and you'll likely not be disappointed.
Sorry for the typo.
