Typhoon Many, many years ago, 'generic' cereals hit the stores. They had either white boxes with black lettering or yellow with black, depending on which major store brand carried it. It was maybe 1/2 the price of Post, Kelloggs, etc., or at the least much cheaper, and people were having a fit. They were thinking it was coming from Japan or China where a lot of(most of) the cheap things were starting to filter into the U.S. from in that time, with shit quality.
We bought it because we were shit poor, and never noticed any different tastes than any other brands.
A few years later, 60 Minutes did a piece on the 'generic' vs. 'name brand' cereals. They showed the conveyor lines passing under the hoppers full of cereal as it was allotted into the boxes. Frosted Flakes, Corn Pops, etc.. (Not recalling which brand this factory was?) The conveyors had 2 lines of boxes running under the same hoppers.....1 line was the name brand (Post or Kellogg?) and the other line had.....omigawd.....yellow/black boxes!!
Same quality, same tolerances.
Some things we just don't know about.....I've had my fair share of 'shit' from OEMs, with their 'QA/QC and tolerances'. And I have had some great 'generic' products.
I don't read so much about heads exploding/heads flying off shafts/shafts breaking, etc. of the 'cheap' brands as I certainly do (almost daily)of the OEMs.
I will agree though, 'Kirkland' should not be on their golf clubs anywhere. But, like a lot of golfers, that company has an ego problem. šAnd like those golfers, it's costing them money in much the same way.
