DC300 I like the interface here a lot better. I'd like to see a Flea Market here and maybe it's here, but a PM like feature. I haven't dug super deep into it all, I just pop in to see what's going on. For me it's nice to have the same group of guys to shoot the poo with.

As I understand it Justin's working on it, especially buy, sell, trade.

Still a member of both, but not particularly liking the unfiltered language on the new version of the other site. It doesn't offend me, but given a choice I'll favor the site that is less profane.

IMO right now the only thing really to compare is site traffic which IMO is all that FGI has going for it over GolfBuzz. The new layout and botched upgrade at FGI make it a difficult place to navigate and a frustrating experience for the enduser.

I like both. I'm pretty adaptable, so the change in format in either forum didn't turn me off. I like the other site's history. They transitioned ~all~ of the posts from the start of FGI. I still like searching through old posts sometimes, like when I was looking back at the GolfBummin' trip Scott, Owen, and I went on. There were some great posts about that.

GolfBuzz actually has a better layout and support, Ramers is back and that's awesome.

The most important thing to me though is the people. And the people here and there are cool so I'm hanging at both.

The look here is great and have no complaints with that.
I would like to have some way to PM or email people.
Chat at FGI is functional but not private.
I also do not like the fact at FGI your email address is public.

For the naysayers here, this is new and evolving. JRock put forth a lot of effort to do this for US! For that I will be eternally grateful. No forum is perfect nor will satisfy everyone, yet we have someone running this place who cares, is accessible and responsive. That is no longer FGI.

So, if we want and need more traffic, then we need to start creating more threads. And yes, I am looking in the mirror as I am not known for originating threads. But if that is all it takes, I will start making an effort. How about you?

Bottom line it is about the people. I have made some life long friends thanks to FGI and those friendships will continue. Thankfully they all have registered here and we need to find a way to start getting some of them to post, so please thread up folks.

I won't draw a line in the sand between the two sites, but this one doesn't feel as foreign as the new FGI. Change is always uncomfortable if the change was any good, but too much change repels.

I think P&R was a mistake with the old FGI. I never was in it, but bad feelings and ill will spilled over to the rest of the forum. Friends are there at times to vent to, but negativity all the time is just uncalled for and becomes boring. I like the feel of here and in time it will thrive.

To be historically accurate, the "bad feelings and ill will" first existed in FGI's Clubhouse Forum which originally was open to political posts. FGI's head honchos subsequently decided to create the Politics and Religion Forum to separate that stuff from the Clubhouse.

I never had any ill will toward anyone in the P&R, but after awhile I stopped participating in it or even looking at it. It almost never yielded any discussion and almost all topics devolved into what a poor excuse for a human being someone is for having a contrary belief. I have no use for it here and hope jrock has no plans to introduce one.

While you may have never had any ill will toward anyone, too often topics became personal. In some cases that carried over to the main forum.
No P&R needed.

I enjoy the fact that there's no P&R here as well. I like both places equally, because some decent people hang both here and there.

I like both and although the P&R forum has been quiet at FGI for some time it used to be my favorite forum. Both sites are time killers for me and they both work pretty well in that regard.

I hope it's possible to avoid a P&R section... but I've seen a few threads already here that would head straight to a typical P&R argument if people responded... Avoiding P&R takes the cooperation of ~EVERYONE~. Not bringing up gun violence, terrorism, various religions, the election, left versus right, will take a huge amount of willpower for some people. I certainly hope it can be done, but I won't hold my breath.

And who's going to tell those P&Rers to stfu when they go there? Is that Ramers' job?

If there is no P&R section then P&R topics should not be posted.
I just asked them to stop.
Others who don't want a P&R section PLEASE post in those threads also asking them to stop. Therefore, JRock has more evidence to support we don't want to go that route.

I agree. I might go even further in suggesting that those who purposely bait others into P&R discussions be shown the door after two warnings.

Much too often these divisive discussions bleed over into the clubhouse, and it adds to the workload of the moderators to control it. Why not just nip it in the bud right out of the gate and make an attempt to keep this place somewhat friendly?

If people want to talk politics and religion - there are several thousand message boards already in existence that offer those topics exclusively. I honestly see no need for it on a "golf" message board. I would wager a guess that a majority of people don't want it. Take a vote if you must - count me in already as a "nay" if you decide to.

My issues? LOL. It's "an issue". You write as if I have some disorder because I wonder about a certain phrase dropped on the heels of a shooting spree. I suppose to be more PC I should pretend there are no issues in this beautiful world. Hummmmmmm. Hummmmmmmmm.

This very thread is an issue thread. No one has politicized it and it doesn't seem to conflict with you so it's not an "other people's issue" in your mind.

Sorry, that some things offend people. If you can control yourself things should never get out of control. Control YOURSELF...all issues solved.
