sdandrea1 All good choices - light clubs with draw bias..... and don't be afraid to have him try a ladies driver.

At least a ladies shaft. 150-175 is really short, so unless he's making terrible contact he's swinging really slowly. Could be the lack of launch too.

I talked him into going to PXG for a fitting. There is one about an hour and a half away. He can get fit into. Gen 5 or an 0211 and get it custom to him. That way I’m not guessing and won’t be wrong! Its pretty crazy that PXG is now the budget customer fitter.

Thanks all for the advice and offers!

backinit Yes if you want a senior flex PXG wood or hybrid.

True, if you wanted some other flex besides senior flex, I would suggest you look for something that is not senior flex.

True, but if you are not seeking senior flex, then it would make sense to seek a flex that is something different than senior flex. ......like a not-senior flex, for example.

Sparky If I have to buy a driver and cannot get head only, I get the best resale shaft in it I can, without added cost. Senior flex shafts in OEM drivers are like having Skittles, M&Ms, and JuJu fruits in a bowl.
I use the same shafts in all heads, and made sure I have plenty on hand. And never sell the complete club!

DonM Not all the same 'softness'. iirc. Not had any for several years.

        I'm talkin' 'bout them candies.....you pervs.😲

In the end, equipment recommendations are shot in the dark. What works for you won't work for the intended. It's about scrutinizing the end user and matching up loft. face angle, shaft weight and profile. All the recommendations here may or may not work.

One may work great one day and not the next. It amazes me that folks/G'Buzzers think that the holy grail for me would work for another. NOT! It's well intended but just doesn't work, get in touch with a good person that can IDENTIFY your swing characteristic and this DOESN"T mean launch monitors find a person with experience that knows how to factor in swing characteristics and can really help you, not some bells and whistles person. That's the issue finding a swing guy that can get equipment to work for you the majority of the time. It's not an easy find. Most fit golfers with something that fits them or fits a PGA pro. There is a lot in between. 😁

WHOA BABY! Buzz inflation is going crazy. That is way over forum approved prices.

Pretty sure we all know this, Scott. I think these recommendations are based on "here's some examples of clubs that are targeted at seniors. Might work for you, might not". I think the OP is just looking for ideas. We all could have said, "go find a good club fitter" but that's not what he asked for. 😉

sdandrea1 And he, of all people, should know how rare those type fitters are today. Prolly all his age and don't want anyone on their lawns any more.
