Rickochet Yeah, I made those. Still use mine when regripping, with the original rubber. I've still got a few clamps around, and the bases, but again, no time for that stuff right now. I've got a list of things I'm going to make, when 'the day' comes. I don't even make the spine finder any more.

Pic 1 shows the clamp. What ever material you put in the clamp face is working great after 5 years.

Pic 2 I guess is the 123put puller which looks very similar to the JB I have.

Great products. Rex, I think there is a market for these if you ever get the time or desire to make them.

OP,did you bother to read the raving 1 star review?

Buyer beware
This is a piece of junk it's instructions all but tell you it's not going to work very well and the items that come with it are garage quality at best. I tried to follow the instructions and destroyed the finish on a $300 Taylormade Superfast which cost me dearly because it wasn't mine I was fixing it for a customer and had no choice but replace it.

You're better off using something like this if you only plan on doing a few clubs.

But I know I didn't pay anything near that, probably closer to $40.

check the local Craigslist ads to see if you can do better.

SVonhof I think that fella was a former FGI member also. They started out around $49. Then, inflation sets in.

That one should work well except the bolted down shaft clam is not user friendly and often could not hold the shaft securely in place, needing to tighten down several times during the process.

It'll work for hobbyist.

I think I still have one somewhere.

I've got one of those, works great. I don't remember paying $100 for it either.

I have a Golfworks screw type puller that for some reason can't get enough clamping force on the shaft, it always creeps. I got so sick of fighting it I took a 2x2 that was about 2 feet long and cut a slot it in that the shaft would just slip into and then pushed the head off with my feet. Can't get much cheaper than that.

Mind if I ask what color of cushion did you use to sit on , when using your feet to push the 2x2 ?
BTW, I think Par4QC had mentioned it once in the old forum to use a piece of bicycle inner tube to wrap the jaws of the clamp. Real rubber has more friction for grabbing the shafts.

That thing is a complete POS. Run, not walk, away from the idea of even considering buying that.

JB's shaft puller is great, I've used it in my shop for 10+ years and it has never failed me. Keep an eye out for a used one of these:

That looks like mine. Mine has the pre-load spring also which I like. And, no the handle is not too close to the head. That might be an illusion from the pic. I was going to build one and someone who was retiring offered me their JB at a bargain price. I picked up a 6 ton hydraulic jack from Tractor Supply for $12. Take a jack, a $4 shaft clamp and this pic to a welding shop and they can prolly make you one dirt cheap.

Is the club head too close to the ratchet handle ?

Hey LB,

My first shaft puller some 12 years ago was an inexpensive screw type , it worked fine but then it scratched a $200 shaft and that was that. You don't have to drop a bundle but get something decent. You should be able to get something in the $50 range

were building. Well worth it's weight in gold.
