I recently bought some Wilson Duos, 40some compression, and they are longer than almost every 70-100 compression ball I've ever hit!!

And before Scott comes along and says that is because I swing slower, I had Jake hit some.
They still haven't come down.

I trust their science. They find the soft balls carry less but roll out more to get about the same distance. And soft balls can be longer off irons. But there are always outliers. I get really good distance from the cally soft but I rely on roll, hitting a 7 degree driver. I'm an outlier too as general rule of thumb says seniors should play more loft for more distance. All I get is higher and shorter.

I can hit them the same height as any 9/10 head. Same shafts.

And the Duo ball goes farther, in the air, for me.

So, I don't know how they will ever come to a final conclusion/choice on what the new ball can be.
But, very seriously doubt it will ever be put in place(the rule) as it is only going to be an option. And far too many PGA members are speaking against it.

Much ado about nothing. Look at Jack's tourney the past 4 days. Drives were being hit almost 350 on some holes by the winner.....what was the winning score, for 4 rounds????? Set the courses up like they did, U.S, Open style.

EXACTLY!!!!!! My biggest point that nobody listens to. Thank you Rex!!!! If the ball goes to far why isn’t everyone shooting in the mid 50’s???

Our club champion from like 2 years ago won playing Pinnacle Gold. He used it just because he wanted to make a statement.

I'm going to guess that the balls like the AVX, Tour Soft, Tour Response, and similar already meet the requirements.

May be. Depending on what they come up with in their minds.

My thought.....the most played ball on Tour is Titleist. And those players have been using the balls since they could swing a club, probably. The new rule is only going to be a 'suggestion' type rule; associations can employ it if they want.

Now, let's say I own Titleist Golf....... and I say screw those old fucks....we are not making a new ball to satisfy their whims. We are making balls to satisfy the players, not 150 year old ways of thinking.

Like the belly/long putters.....it would be much easier to roll back the drivers. That would make Jack happy.

Over the 50+ years I've been playing, I realize that a golf ball is a golf ball. Just play. Played pretty well (for me) yesterday with a Top Flite Hammer Control and some 855 Silver Scot irons

My u derstanding is that the major ball companies already have a rolled back ball ready to go, they might just need a few tweaks.

Pinnacles… i only have issues around the green or shots under 75 yards. For me they’re fine off the tee and second shots. Sometimes I think golf companies created too many balls just to make people overthink and over analyze.

I shake my head when guys come in our shop and agonize over Prov1 or AVX. They hit it 200 yards off the tee. It really won’t make a difference at that speed. I’d like to tell them to save their money and grab a box of Pinnacles or Noodles.

Dammit John, they want that spin they are so good at applying, around the greens!!
If they hit 200 off the tee, you know damn well they are proficient at applying spin when needed. Esp. with a LW in their hands!!

I play once in awhile with a guy who is a 30 handicapper. He hits a driver about 170 yards. He plays with all the pro v’s he finds and is a ball snob about some others. I told him point blank he would be better off with Nitro balls.

DonM I've always found a lot of humor on golf sites. On the Facebook sites, I wear Depends while reading articles/want ads/sale ads. And cannot drink anything at the time....out of damage to keyboard fear.

I liked the Pinnacle Exception. I thought that ball and the TF Gamer were inexpensive balls that did everything pretty well. Other balls might be longer off the tee, but then unusable around the green. There's only been a few balls without urethane covers that I felt were still decent inside 40 yards.
