      Eguller How come every US Open and PGA Championship the “experts” talk about how hard the course is and how the pros talk about what a test it will be and put their predictions at Even to -5? Meanwhile the winning score is almost always -10 to -15, which is where most of our members put the final tally.

          Taki27 I was in the car a lot yesterday, and listening to PGA Tour Radio. All of the hosts, who were on site, agreed it was going to be very tough. So who knows.

          They were saying that they, the hosts (former players), would have a lot of trouble breaking 85.

              DonM that makes me wonder what said hosts could do anyplace compared to the current pro list...it's not like Mcilroy or Tiger is making that commentary.... just throwing that out there...

              Went looking for the last time the pga championship was held there. Apparently 10 years ago Jason Dufner took the win with -10.

                  DonM are the fairways all much tighter? Bunkers deeper? Greens more sloped?? What is there to make me or anyone else expect to see the leaders final score be par or -3 to win?
                  I'm of the mind that all the commentators are there hyping up the course, and we get it in our heads that because these 'talking heads' say they can't do X that they are able to keep up with the current top 10 in the PGA. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the 'talking heads' are just a little better than scratch golfers, and would get blown out of the water by most on the pga tour.
                  It would be nice to see a course that punished those wayward tee shots heavy rough, and see the leaders get out at just around par. I know that this will never happen. PGA wants people to watch, I just want to see those who are so fantastic at this game I love have to seriously work hard if they miss the fairways. I want to see who will lose their shit when they can't score as well as they think they should. Yeah, I'm a little bit sadistic... and a little bit masochist, as I play and I suck, yet I keep playing.
