So, how many guys sign up for these things? And how many spots are actually available in the main tournament? Just wondering how many guys think they can play a tour event.
2023 WM Phoenix Open
That area of AZ is going to be hell, what with the SB the same weekend.
My brother in Glendale said people are moving from their homes to their campers. And renting their homes for $10K!! Per night!!

To be honest, this is high season down there for golf rates. The qualifier is a bargain⦠a round at those courses will be that much anyway.

I can't believe Western Skies is one of the sights. A score of 62 should win that one! Probably one of the easiest courses in town. I should have entered!
I actually know one of the guys playing in the Lonetree tournament. His dad is a teaching pro at the course. I have done some club work for him on several occasions. I even did a reshaft on a hybrid for the guy playing.
Not at his site. The results can be found here:

sdandrea1 Went to the wrong venue. Would have made it with that score anywhere else.
Our JDC qualifier is like that here. 63-64 or don't show up. The course they use has billiard table greens!! Roll off if missed from 2'. Ask me how I know these things. (and it was a birdie putt, turned double)
I've played both Lone Tree and Western Skies a few times when we used to do a Winter Desert Storm as well. They don't make the Sept DS rota ....only play them in winter because they were reasonablly priced for that time of year.
both are ok but not that good, surprised they hold the qualifiers there but perhaps with it being peak season and green fees $250 everywhere else none of the good courses want to give theirs up for a day
Lonetree is not a bad track. Just not up to DS level of course. Western Skies is just a golf course. No signature holes, flat and relatively boring. I play it in the winter because it is reasonably priced. Many of the courses on that list were easy tracks. McCormick Ranch might be the exception.
I really do wish the nicer courses would take care of the locals a little more around here. Maybe offer a highly reduced round in the winter for every round you play in the summer.

Lone Tree is definitely above WS. jimengaz1 with whom I always stayed with lived in Gilbert and was a member, or played league at WS so we would play it. I don't remember much about either so they weren't that indelible Recall a good par 3 over water at LTree, and maybe a driving range in play ( er OB ) on 1 or 18 at WS.
the other courses we played regularly in Winter that were reasonable were Johnson Ranch and Poston Butte, I liked both those. I thought Ken McDonald was a good track for the $$$ as well.
none of these make the September rota though.
Look at these magnificent tee markers!
