9/11 Survivors' group vows to protest at the Masters if Augusta National doesn't reconsider decision allowing LIV Golf series participants to play.

IMO, this is BS, who the heck empowered this group? I wonder if the PGAT has talked with any members?

Par4QC exactly what I'd expect, as well as Masters letter, they addressed it in the least controversial way while saving face.

They'll probably have computation of LIV vs PGA standings. 🤣

Martee who the heck empowered this group?

I've never heard of them. Not so sure they're empowered.

Another group of people without a day job.... If they were working maybe Rickochet would have got his groceries from Kroger on time.

Typhoon Another group of people without a day job.... If they were working maybe Rickochet would have got his groceries from Kroger on time.

      True dat.

...And the counterpoint to clarify the 911 Families' position:

"The group, 9/11 Families United, which represents victims’ families and survivors of the 2001 terrorist attacks, has released a statement reading: “In the aftermath of 9/11, our country agreed we would never forget that horrible day. The only reason the Saudis launched LIV was to try to make the world forget who they are and what they did, including their role in 9/11. Anyone who truly vowed to ‘never forget’ should be appalled by the decision by these golfers to put money ahead of their own country."

Eguller these golfers put money ahead of their own country."

It's been a long time since JFK preached country first. That ship has sailed unfortunately.

        Eguller their own country.

Their own countries have no sanctions against the Saudi Arabia. Not sure why the golfers would, or should, be held to a higher standard than their own governments have. It's their right to protest though, and I'm sure they are being compensated in some way for it.

johnnydoom and I'm sure they are being compensated in some way for it.

          There's the nutshell!!
Plus, they are nothing more than a bunch of lazy bastards that do not want to work.

Yes, I hate these types of people.

Interesting to check the financing, if there is any. Paid protesters or what ?

How long will it be before the 3000+ US citizens murdered, mostly by Saudi nationals, will be brushed aside as Rex mentioned ? Or has that already happened ?

I've always liked to think of sports competition as free if political implications. Like in the Olympics, everyone shows up and we root for our guys. Maybe we can have a little side "Olympics" and hope the LIV guys go down hard. That being said, Rory and JT have been a couple of crybabies. Hmmmmm....

Eguller It was brushed aside about 3 weeks after it occurred when our government looked into it, declared it was a bunch of radicals that weren't tied to the Saudi government, and then told us not to go about willy-nilly persecuting people that were religiously or culturally affiliated with them because they are a people and religion of peace. I won't blame protestors if they don't believe or trust our government, but the players are not going against their own country via their participation in LIV (unless the shadow government everyone is talking about is the PGA Tour).

My recollection is different - Afghanistan and Iraq come to mind. Money doesn't talk, it yells.

Not different. My recollection is the same as yours, but AFAIK, LIV is not being funded by entities from either of those two countries. The leader of Iraq and thousands of his supporters were killed with the blessing of one of our presidents, and the leader of the radicals in Afghanistan and hundreds of his followers were killed with the blessing of several of our presidents. I wouldn't say the loss of 3000 Americans was brushed aside. I might be inclined to say the retaliation may have been misdirected if you twist my arm, but I would be in opposition to the official stance of my country if I were to say that.

You'd be far back in that line. 😉
                      Several states over maybe.
