Typhoon Seems most people were better off when oems offered “set wedges”. You bought 4-SW…. Same shaft, flex and weight. There was no grind to pick, no bounce number… Just easy to use.

That was always my choice in clubs be it Oem or component. The wedges always seemed to set up better to my eye when they all looked similar. All of the remaining sets I have have set wedges, even the full hybrid sets.

Par4QC People really need to quit trying to copy the Pros.

All us folks with Cavity Back Wedges are not those "People", I don't see any pros with CBX2 wedges I play. 😉

The bigger wedges always look better to me, but every time I try one it just doesn't work well. I can't get the larger higher bounce ones through the thick rough. Its the same for me with irons. I like a Ping G type off the tee, but I can't hit it as well otherwise.

Wedges are my favorites, and perhaps the only club I don't search for alternatives to what I already have. Never paid attention to grind or bounce and it never mattered to me whether it was a cavity back or not. Only met one I didn't like. After replacing my trusty worn out sand wedge I needed a gap wedge and went out and bought a Cleveland 50 degree wedge (don't remember the model, but this would've been around 2008) and I could not hit that thing consistently from one shot to the next for reasons I never understood. I'd probably love the Wishons, but I'm set with my DTG wedges (at least until I misplace one 😦).

I have 2 set wedges, both gap and a stand alone SW....how's that for strong lofts🙃

And the stand alone might get us back on topic😉....a Wishon PCF Micro Pro.

I've always had pretty good luck with Maltby wedges. I've had the Tricepts for 5+ years now......Nothing fancy about them.....I just like the plain simple shape at address, and I have the 52, 56, a 56 wide sole (1.2") that I've bent to 58, and an ugly old Lob Slider that seems to be the only club I can use consistently out of traps.

I was hoping the 56/58 wide sole would take the Slider's place this year, and I did have some success with it, but one of the last rounds I played this season was at a course that had real powdery sand, and it took me TWO shots to get
out of those #$%&* traps on THREE different holes! So, the Slider went back in the bag the next week.....

It's funny though, as I've never even tried a 60 til this year. Never really like a 56/58. I did hit it fairly well, even if I did get the willys every time I stood over the ball. No skulls. Very surprising.

I obtained one for the specific purpose of desert golf, and it worked very well there.
Here, not so much, unless you wanted a trophy pelt to put on the hood of your golf cart, or a grass stole.

Last 60 degree wedge I hit was a one hop and stop, exactly what I said I was going to do before I swung. Unfortunately, the hop was a skip across the green as I skulled the SOB and the stop was the lake on the other side. Of course the cute beer cart girl and my buddy, who both watched the shot, laughed their asses off.

My gap is a 52 degree CBX-2. My sand wedge is an old Ping Eye 2. I think it is 56, maybe? I dunno what loft it is. All I know is that it works.
