[deleted] A little 9 hole mini close to work was $21 4 years ago. It costs $38 to play there now.
Could be a few reasons. First off people are dumb and will just keep paying. I see that with carts..” no dollar amount too high for me to walk🙄”.
The other reason, and I don’t know if the course was wicked nice, is this…. They might be raising the rates to get a better class of golfer. One that will respect the course and leave it in the same shape as when they went out. They’ll repair ball marks, replace divots, not drive carts everywhere, not hit multiple balls off every tee. Much less wear and tear on the course. Higher rates and less people= course makes the same money off green fees but saves in maintenance. Also, a more expensive course is perceived as better.
Our Super is from Farm Neck on the Vineyard. He was always asking our owner to raise the rates if he wants the course to look as nice as he strives for. Can’t get it looking that way with 3-400 people a day playing.
