Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, another Universal classic. Pretty fun romp, although Bela Lugosi is a terrible monster. Karloff had that gaunt look that looked like death. Lugosi is all jowly like the well fed actor he was.
I am watching all these movies for the first time as an adult. All these obvious errors that people in the 40's evidently didn't notice. Lon Chaney is in a hospital gown, turns into the Wolfman and is now wearing work pants and shirt. In the morning he's found passed out back in the hospital in ,you guessed it, the hospital gown. Later the Wolfman is stomping around in his big bare wolf feet only to fall in a pit and wake up in the morning with Chaney wearing shoes.
Another thing I just recently read, the script originally called for the Monster to be blind so Lugosi is stumbling around like a blind man would. Somewhere along the way they just did away with that plot twist and Lugosi just looks clumsy. The Monster was also supposed to speak a lot in this film but they decided to do away with that too, so in some scenes you can see the Monsters lips moving but nothing comes out. To keep the plot followable they then dubbed in Chaney speaking where his mouth isn't moving. Talk about attention to detail, or lack thereof. Still afun ride down memory lane with the Universal monsters.
