Just go buy the original RBZ 3 wood… it’ll go a mile and be easy to hit. Also will be inexpensive and something you can actually sell down the road.

I'm a big fan of these types of clubs as they are essentially the precursor to single length woods- shorter and heavier clubs that are supposed to be easier to hit. This one is basically a 2 wood loft(13.5 deg), playing at 5 wood specs(220g/42"). I use these types of club when the call is for a 3 wood off the tee- infinitely easier to hit for me than a 3 wood. Not sure how big this is but I would guess is slightly bigger than your typical fairway wood- buy it!

The various Hibore models were cannons. The original Hibore seemed to be such a regional thing. They were hot in my area when they were released. I had a friend near Orlando and they could not give the Hibore away there.

Or Teton X or whatever it is. I swear they all use the same exact script . I find it hard to believe anybody out there is hitting a short shaft high loft mini driver "20-30 yards" past any reasonably fit regular driver.

garyt1957 My thoughts exactly. There are some advantages to shorter shaft, higher loft, but length is not one of them if you get anywhere near center hits on the conventional modern driver. I am not a long or high ball hitter, but anytime I've tried that formula I lose yardage. Having said that, I haven't tried the shorter, heavier formula in quite some time and it could be that it would be more suitable for me at age 59 than it was at 45. Not really even tempted to since the modern high MOI drivers seem to have me hitting drives straighter than ever before in my lifetime.

johnnydoom Since I have access to a ton of fitting equipment I’m going to try a 70 gram driver shaft instead of my usual 60 and see what happens.

I see in irons I get more ball speed and better numbers off of a heavier shaft…. “Muscle Activation”

That's very likely what they mean. But if you're realistically duffing every drive that bad no club is going to help.

I remember the days when I couldn't hit a driver. Then all the short heavy alternatives start to say "buy me!"

Typhoon I’m going to try a 70 gram driver shaft instead of my usual 60 and see what happens.

I swapped in a 70g recently and was hitting more fairways. Higher and shorter (less to no roll), but straighter. Didn't really help my game though as the rest got worse to make up for it. Need to look at the irons too as the new set is a good 10g lighter and about 1/4" shorter.

Typhoon My Alpha irons have Dynamic Gold shafts in them and they are significantly heavier, shorter, and weaker lofted than my graphite shafted Ping Rapture irons. Yet I hit the Alpha irons (C1 Pro) about 1/2 club longer than the Pings. I assume that I'm not able to swing the Pings significantly faster than the Alpha and so the additional weight moves the ball a bit more. Haven't been able to duplicate that with driver though. Even so, I continue to play the Pings as I'm convinced my fingers, wrists, and elbows suffer less post round pain with the graphite - whether it be due to reduced weight or shock.

Is 10 grams even enough to matter? It's really such a minute amount when you think about it. I have drivers with shafts all over the board and I can't tell a significant difference between any of them. I could see going from 60-100 grams.
