Which head?

So after some deliberation, I've decided to buy a wishon eq1 head to see if it's worth the upgrade. Believe it or not, I've never bought a single head to test as I've always just bought entire sets instead. Anyways, at first I was thinking of buying the 5 iron head as I figured this would tell me the most about any forgiveness differences as well as the biggest difference in offset. I know demo clubs are typically 6 or 7 irons, but not sure of the reasoning.

So my wise buzzer family, what is your recommendation for which iron head to demo against my current sterlings? I'm planning on pulling my gw shaft to put in the demo head so I can do a direct , head to head comparison.

I would try the one I struggle with the most in the Sterlings. If it doesn't help that one, it's not worth it

The least loft you are going to use. If you go from 6i to 5hy then the 6i and so forth.

In TLT, I test 4i or 4hy, 7i and PW per TLT Series. The 4i/4hy and PW actually display the most as far as shaft weight, shaft profile, target MoI. I always build light to be able to add weight with lead tape in testing and watch impacts. Wishon heads allow this with lighter head weights.

You guys are too funny. There are dibs on the sterlings that I i haven't decided to sell yet and dibs on the demo iron that I haven't ordered yet. Yup, a bunch of cheap bastages here huh?

Anyways, to update, I may just go ahead and order the whole set of heads as I'm thinking there's a good likelihood that I will like them as much or more than the sterlings. I'll keep you posted Hoss and you too Kelco 😁

I don't think Tinker and I are talking EQ1-NX irons per OP. Tinker played MacGregor VFoil blades at one time and I play Louisville Classic 50's blades my 4i is 24 deg. 😀

Whelp I am gonna find out. I've been experimenting with Kirk Junge's single plane Setup for Impact using old Sterling irons 5i, 7i, 9i, PW and SW all S2S Stepless "R" Apollo steel 36 5/8" 63 deg. I think there is a good correlation to using single plane swing with single length irons. I haven't had any issues using PW and SW at slightly longer length than traditional for me. The main dividend is the long flat spot and straightness of shots with single plane.

So, after a few more 9's I am going to build a new set of Wishon EQ1-NX irons probably stop at 6i and go to 5hy as club head speed will dictate using a hybrid single length head vs. an iron head. I'll also use Wishon S2S .335 hybrid shafts which will yield a bit higher trajectory in the single length hybrids. Junge's single plane has dropped my normal higher trajectory as I am delofting not adding loft or flipping as much as with my double plane swing.
