Here's another little hack: rubber "clip-on" jaws for my vise

I cut one of those rubber shaft-clamps in half; reinforced them with aluminium strips with 2 holes drilled in them that contain small magnets.

Par4QC I'm still waiting to see what your latest project is... Wasn't it something along the lines of a clamp/ shaft puller??

An automotive disc brake spreader (22€ on amazon) can be easely enough converted into a shaft puller that fits onto any bench vise. You just have to grind a slit in the jaws.

Luc_Van_Daele That is so good! The manufactured one that I have has a lie angle markings plate that uses a mark on the square upright rod. By offsetting the club in your setup, your angle measuring tool will do the same thing by measuring against the rod. Very clever.

May I ask, your notes for the Lie and Loft Gauge at Thingiverse say that you've used a 150mm long aluminum bar as the arm. Is there an advantage with it being that short? The aluminum bars that I have handy are actually 12x12x300mm, and I am debating whether to cut one down at all or just leave it as is.
I'm not using the watch case holder clamp vise thing, I have a 3D printed sliding vise that has similar jaws that will accept your nice lie_loft_clamp pieces. Thank you for making your files and your work available.

And here's the shaft puller with the brake spreader; a bit of drilling and grinding and a lick of paint. It bolts onto my little vise with 2 little bolts so easy install - uninstall.

Not glue!!! The 60° wedge is for the hinged base plate to rest against it (see 2nd pic above). For the hindge to keep the other 2 parts together I used 2 steel nails clipped to lenght (see 1st pic at the top).

Next project will be a frequency meter based on a laser tachometer. While waiting for the meter and clamps to arrive I already started designing: the shaft clamp is basicly 2 toggle clamps pressing down on interchangeble jaws for raw or gripped shafts; the jaws will be spring loaded. The tachometer sits in a hinged cradle so the hight of the laser beam can be adjusted.
