Desert Storm 2022 - Sep 8-10
I also will not be able to make it this year. I will make it back next year the Lord be willing and the rest of ya'll agreeing.
All,
Verrado is a likely course, just haven't heard back from them yet. It is less than $100/round in September.
We Ko Pa is another. Its $130, but with other courses charging $110 - we'd rather play We Ko Pa.
Still looking for more. Previous favorites are all over $100, even Las Sendas and Eagle Mountain. Inflation be real!
Thanks!
Update - if we want We Ko Pa it would be a 6:30AM start. That is probably attractive to a lot of people to beat the heat, but it is earlier than we typically do - opinions please!
If we do not want 6:30am, We Ko Pa would be off the list.

Both above good by me
i just looked and Go.f Club of Estrella is only $40 that week and we have played it before and liked that one
rancho Manana $45
Southern Dunes $98 ( 2 rounds and breakfast = $174)
Whirlwind $89
Weirfan
Some good picks except ranch Miranda
Southern dunes
On Estrella. Make sure itโs the TROON run course not the shitty course on the way to Estrella
hobbit 6:30 is fine
Iโm good with 6:30 as well
JIMENGAZ1 I agree, F&*K Rancho Manana. Iron of many tees, blind fairways, just a royal PITA to play.

We played it back in 18 or 19. It was just ok but yes, a short , tight course. The shortbhitters seemed to like it, long hitters not so much.
I really only posted it as a lesser priced play option. I'd much rather play Estrella.
You have my clubs so will call you once I have my travel deets to make arrangements. Off to Bandon Dunes for a week, week after next so probably after that
See you soonish
We have played Estrella three years in a row and I was trying to change it up. Still an excellent value, so will keep it in play as an option.
Whirlwind was in poor shape last time we played it, but that has been a while. Will see.
Southern Dunes a good option even though its just one course.
Reports are Whirlwind is not the best this time of year. September may be totally different.
I played Whirlwind a couple of weeks a go. Greens and tee boxes were fine, fairways had typical summer โhotโ spots where the Bermuda didnโt fill in but the course was playable no problem. Typical of summer golf in Arizona heat.
We Ko Pa on Saturday - $130 for 18 holes, $240 for 36. Cholla in the morning, Saguaro in the afternoon.
Verrado is Thursday - Victory first, but they gave us a deal. Victory in the morning for $46+tax, Founders in the afternoon for a replay rate of $21+tax.
Still need to book Friday, and Wednesday for the early arrivers.

Ok folks, here is the plan thus far:
Wednesday September 7th: Whirlwind - order to be determined. ($150 for 36 holes, not sure of the morning-only rate yet)
Thursday September 8th: Verrado - Victory morning ($46+tax), then Founders ($21+tax replay).
Friday September 9th: TBD
Saturday September 10th: We Ko Pa - Cholla morning ($130 for 18), then Saguaro ($240 for 36).
Update for courses and pricing. Still looking to book for Friday.
Wednesday September 7th: Whirlwind. Cattail morning ($90), Devils Claw afternoon ($60).
Thursday September 8th: Verrado - Victory morning ($46), then Founders afternoon ($21).
Friday September 9th: TBD
Saturday September 10th: We Ko Pa, Cholla morning ($130), then Saguaro ($240 for 36).
Its also time to start gathering the roster to ensure tee times. Please chime in if you see something amiss.

What about Southern Dunes for Friday? That's a great course which we haven't played for several years.
And I'm in for all rounds!
