Super League Predictions
Want to go to work for the LIV Tour.... And, it begins.

johnnydoom If you have the time and inclination, it might be interesting to see what the TV station says about it if you call or email saying you'd like them to broadcast the golf.
If I can find any way to contact YT TV, I'll ask them to add the DFW CW station to their channels. I would at least check out the LIV tourneys once in a while, although I don't feel like I'm missing much this season.

DonM I did do a brief search for email and didn't turn one up. I'm not really interested in calling as I doubt anyone that answers the phone will have anything to do with programming. They apparently have social media pages, but the only social media I'm a member of is GolfBuzz. I figure the snub must be intentional given the programing they chose to go with instead. I believe the audience they are attempting to reach is a far different demographic than I and most golfers fit into.
They screwed the pooch by making the move to the CW. People who watch the CW are not the same people who watch golf, for the most part.
The tournaments on Youtube were fine; they showed lots of shots, they had good graphics, no commercials. I really enjoyed watching it on Youtube.
I have no idea why they thought the move to the CW would be a good one. I think they really made the wrong call.
rsvman2 I have no idea why they thought the move to the CW would be a good one. I think they really made the wrong call.
I think they felt the need to show they could get some outlet to televise them and could get some sponsors...I agree, wrong call at this time...
I sent a question to YTTV and to the station. You'd think the station would do whatever it has to to get on YTTV.
I'm thinking this LIV thing is going to fizzle out in the not-too-distant future.
It's now the Pooper League. You are all gonna have to deal with the big bad meanies of the PGA
The broadcast ratings are in the toilet......and getting worse.
If the league folds, do they behead all the players?
sdandrea1 If the league folds, do they behead all the players?
Nope...Just the guy who is the "public face" of LIV...
Do the local affiliates have to pony up, I e. it cost more to run LIV vs reruns of your local fishing guide or infomercials, etc
ode On February 14, 2023, the network said its LIV Golf coverage would be carried in 100% of U.S. media markets. However, as existing contracts only obligate CW affiliates to air prime time programming, some of them have declined to carry LIV coverage. In particular among the refraining stations are the eight CW stations owned by CBS News and Stations, ostensibly due to CBS Sports' longstanding partnership with the competing PGA Tour. In many of the affected markets, LIV coverage will air on a Nexstar-owned station or subchannel, or on another station not connected with The CW or Nexstar.[

Par4QC I checked all of the sub channels and all other available possibilities on DirecTV. Nothing. Ours is owned by Tegna, Inc., which apparently also owns the local ABC affiliate.
There is a station available on DirecTV that carries it, but apparently it must be acquired through an additional package added to what I currently have. Not gonna pay extra to see it. If CW doesn't want me to watch them, I won't.
johnnydoom from what I've seen you are not missing much, but it sucks you don't have the option to make up your own mind. Seems more like dumb bad luck based on where you "liv"e
wow picking sides in that feud, it's like choosing between a lifetime of IBD diarrhea vs a colostomy bag
I guess I have to side with the guy who turned down the known and obvious blood money.
UnholyDefenestrator78 You mean the billionaire that needs nothing? But love.

well turning down LIV pretty much cut his net worth in half.
I'd say honestly that's commendable. At that level the wealthier you are the higher return and safer hedged and abitraged investments you can get into. It would have been worth 20-25B by the time he died if he had anything resembling a good manager. At that point his kids and grandkids could pull 100M a year out and it would basically remain flat.
UnholyDefenestrator78 He never lost a cent turning them down. They just did not have enough money to offer an already billionaire. Anything more than what he makes now is zero net. I'd hate to be that filthy with money.
And Rory with all his bitching, had no offer at all. It's the cause of tears for him. Then again, he has a 200M contract with Nike he's still working with. If they don't renew this year, he may have a change of heart.

they offered him a $700M or $800M upfront signing bonus.

UnholyDefenestrator78 All gone with taxes. Just like smoking pot.....you can only get so high.
No need to smoke more than needed.

or he could do like all the other rich guys and
set up a pass through S-corp as the payee on the contract and then re-invest it all in their SWF.
Then sell off the proceeds to various other S-corps
/ not a tax accountant
// I'm sure people do that all the time whether its legal or not

UnholyDefenestrator78 But, as I read last night.....the guys that did go, did sign and got huge bonuses will have a very hard time quitting LIV until their contracts are up. It was reported that there is a payback clause of up to 4 times the original bonus amounts, in order to quit/be relieved of service. Not pro-rated for years 'served'. Much like a non-disclosure clause.
Let me grab my calc......see what 4 x 800M is........nope....not signing that shit!!

Unless something surprising happens on the upside for LIV, I don't think they will be around by 2026 anyway. If they do keep going with very little of a following, it could get pretty discouraging for the players. I will be shocked if anyone near the ability of Cam Smith joins them this season. Kevin Streelman, okay sure.
I didn't get an answer from either YouTube TV or the local CW affiliate about why the latter is not on the former. No surprise.
