SMT It's a sport, It's about money, it's a personal decision for each to live their lives in a manner they choose which also falls under FREEDOM, one that America itself historically speaking has not granted to all.
Yup, it's a sport and about money, but it's still subject to scrutiny and we all have the 'freedom' to have legitimate criticism. And yup to America hasn't historically granted freedom to all as well.
However, we've always been pointed towards expanding human rights. We may take two steps backwards and one step forward at times, but our history flawed as it is shows that we are always trying to expand human rights.
Can't say the same about the Saudi's. Just the opposite might be closer. So, 'sportswashing' is a thing and is being employed by the Saudi Royal Family.
Trying to sanitize their human rights / atrocities by sportswashing may work for some by buying off some morally bankrupt professional golfers.
Eamon Lynch says it better that me regarding criticism.
"Whatever the issue, there’s a constituency that insists consequential decisions made in public are somehow not subject to public scrutiny or comment. These clods are working overtime at the moment, aided by an army of bots splattering social media with whataboutism in defense of the ongoing Saudi hijacking of professional golf. Some disappointments are nigh on impossible for even the most ardent admirer to excuse though."
You're not a bot are you. lol
