They fucking quit, severed, cashed out.
They "were" exempt. A court will now decide if they still are. And we will be finding out in less than 2 weeks now; maybe this weekend, if they decide to enter the U.S. Open.
In the mean time, new rules are being drawn up, and they will not be, henceforth when it is done. jmo

azgreg Not sure the comment is correct about Ryder Cup. PGA runs Ryder Cup and only requires PGA membership the pros typically have thru the PGATour. That doesn't mean he can't join the PGA.
Hard for me to understand why anybody cares about the LIV in such a hateful way. Change is not always a bad thing, some with the competition.

Bravopilot I am kinda with you on this. If people want to join LIV let them. I know the whole Saudi regime money thing, but as i get older, there are very few people/regimes with clean hands. A ton of athletes are endorsing Nike when the employees work under terrible conditions. If the LIV players want to take a chance to earn more money, hopefully it works out. If not, they get to live with the consequences. I watch golf occasionally. I would watch LIV if it was easily accessible. I may or may not search Facebook to watch it, but it is far less likely than if im watching TV and channel surfing and it pops up.

If someone chooses to ignore the LIV, I respect that position as well.

I don’t foresee the majors shutting their doors to anyone from LIV playing in their tournaments if they are qualified or qualify through sectional qualifying. There may come issues with World Ranking Points, but I don’t see the Masters, even as stuffy and opinionated as they are precluding Garcia, Johnson or Mickelson from playing in future Masters.

Has the DPWorld Tour put out any statements similar to the PGA Tour (ie. banned/fined etc)
Aren't most of these guys members of BOTH tours?
I have not seen anything other than jeopardizing Ryder Cup eligibility, (which would affect only DJ from what I see so far)

Maybe the players know something we don't?

(since they need some bigger names on that tour anyway)
Pelley is a smart businessman. I don't think he would be quick to cancel any options to improve his tour, if it was at all possible.

Spuzz A good musing sir, not playing in PGA Tour events hurts them in World points, plus other ways it gains exemptions into the Majors. Same with Ryder Cup, still need to qualify or change the entire selection into Capt choices, then the PGA Tour may need to re-think.

Is the move to LIV just about the money or mostly about the money? How many would be giving up or risking their PGA membership unless they were guaranteed a shit load of money? I am sure some have some issues with the PGA but not important enough to quit just because of that. I don't think I would have burned the bridge and quit the PGA. I would have played the LIV stuff and let the PGA boot me out if they chose to do so.

jmo, but these guys have already talked with a 'certain' attorney, and he has them trusting him that he can beat hell outta the PGA in any court. All of the sudden, they are all doing the exact same thing...all on their own thinking? Not hardly. They got 'a guy'. And he has informed them this is the easy way to win. You cannot be an 'independent contractor' and work for 2 'companies' at the same time. Must be a Sopranos attorney. 😁

Being a Member of any organization means you have signed obligations.
Not fulfilling those obligations, while a member, means you are susceptible to that organization's disciplinary code.
To me, this means the case does not finish at the end of said boot.
Imagine what the PGA Tour would be asking the courts in monetary compensation for DJ's violations and subsequent loss of future revenue due to his contract violations?
There're out from under the PGA thumb, likely free and easy, as most legally abiding employees would be.

Rickochet I am certainly not a lawyer but I have to believe they were given the legal advice to resign rather than not. I'm still thinking by resigning before being banned that somehow gives them a way back, even if they had to requalify, they couldn't just be banned for life?

Some of these decisions being made are incomprehensible from a legacy point of view. $$ comes and goes
and how much is enough ? 🙄

Eguller They have all been famous, for something, since being in golf.
Is that why they started, when they were 4 yrs. old? No. Legacy means nothing to them. And should never have. Actually, this will add even more to them(legacies), when things are written about professional golf 50 yrs. from now. Some of these 'no names' will now be written in history forever, even if merely as footnotes to DJ and Phil.

Eguller what legacy does Na have? I'd say Na-ne. ( I thought that was clever, lol) same for almost everybody but Phil and Sergio. But we may find out Phil is really desperate money wise to keep his lifestyle flowing due to the gambling.

Had there been 'real' value in it for him, he may well have gone over. But, what could you possibly offer that man, in terms of cash? Or perks?

Of course Tiger's legacy may be worth 9 figures, but not anyone else's. DJ has been a great player, but I haven't seen any DJ shirts, shoes or balls. He could wind up hawking the next Alien wedge in 20 years. 9 figures is generational family money. I think he's already made it on tour and his kids have a rich grandpa to boot. Nice knowing you and your family and your future family and so on will likely never have money issues. It's not Musk or Bezos money, but it's pretty darn good.

Certainly not his 'own' tour - he already has that. 🤔 Cash - rumors were high 9 figures.
Legacy - one of the best ever. I'm at a loss to answer that....

Eguller I think he may well be/has been, 1 of the very few that is out there not playing for money.
You'd have very restricted/short fields for 'just a trophy'; a lot would never show up now.
