Probably just a marketing strategy the networks have used for years, put the most recognizable
name at the top in a tied situation, hoping to get the casual viewer to stay watching.
Not that everybody knows who Finau is, but I'm not sure I ever heard even of Pendrift til this week.
You're right about Tiger, he was almost always at the top in a tied up leader board, he moved the ratings/viewership.
At one time it seemed like they just went by first to post the lowest score, first to the top of the board.

I actually thought just the opposite. The nerve of DeChambeau telling Crenshaw how to putt on the greens at Augusta.
The shot she took at Bryson saying he had zero Masters wins and her husband having two was priceless. And there’s a very good chance he may never have a chance to win one.
Side note. My golf buddy who used to work for Nabisco and was involved with the PGA tournaments they sponsored played golf with Ben Crenshaw and Ben gave him one of his putters signed. Pretty cool.

Love the banter boys, but I’m distracted from my Tito’s and grapefruit juice and watching one hell of a PGA Tour tournament. Lol
Tony and the Canadian Taylor Pendrith will share the lead going into tomorrow’s finale.
Spuzz Much better than listening to the PGA talking heads kissing Finau's ass all day long.
Who else could they pimp in this field? Cantlay? Young? Not exactly household names let alone names that get discussed much at the 19th hole.
Sneakylong My understanding is that Bryson was explaining his particular method of approaching putting at Augusta, not trying to tell Ben how to do it.
Wouldn't surprise me at all lf Ben asked him what he was doing, either. Bryson has a specific method he uses that Ben might have been interested in.
mikeintopeka Who else could they pimp in this field?
How about the guy leading it?
Up and comer? They're gonna need some before the whole tour is the Over The Hill Gang
darpar Hard to call a 31 yr. old and "up and comer"
Late bloomer?
I did pit a ? after my statement.
Regardless, whoever is leading should be the story, not the second place or third place guy, in spite of his name.
If it was a nobody American, I wonder if this is a different story.
This is one reason the LIV tour is better.

Spuzz - no slight intended. They were pandering to their audience with the lip lock on Finau.
I've been a Finau fan since the moment I heard the story about skulling a spectator and then going to her home to personally give her a box of chocolates, flowers, and get well card when the round was over at Colonial.

Could be. But just as easily could've been that Ben said to Julie something like 'can you believe the nerve of him showing me how to putt Augusta greens?' And she ran with it. Plus I'm not a fan of Bryson so I'm going to default against him. lol
Better look if the wife defends her husband than Ben saying something.
Anyway, the only guy on LIV I like is the Boobster (Bubba). He's a likeable half a whack job character. lol

darpar but I'm not sure I ever heard even of Pendrift til this week.
Haha, me either. Had to look at his name a couple times to get it right 'Pendrith'. Anyway, this is what's compelling about the PGA Tour. It's like landing on the moon just to get there. And winning is like hitting the lottery with the exemptions.
Look at a guy like Stewart Cink who's been on Tour for 27 years. And at 49 he's exempt until he's 51. Imagine how many guys he's seen come and go.
So as much as I like Finau, seeing a guy like Pendrith (only 2 professional wins) winning at 31 is a great story in itself. Aren't going to see these type stories on the Exhibition Tour.
