He wanted the job, but was in violation of his contract that he signed not supporting the Ryder Cup and DP World Tour exclusively. So he got the boot.

“There's been a lot of speculation back and forth, but I am fully committed to the captaincy and to Ryder Cup Europe and the job at hand,” Stenson said then. “The captain does sign a contract. He's the only one that does that. Players and vice captains don't. But the captain has an agreement, and those agreements are between Ryder Cup Europe and the captain, so I'm fully committed to my role as a captain and working hard toward the result we want in Rome.”

The successful candidate will be expected during his tenure to commit to supporting the Ryder Cup and the DP World Tour exclusively, and therefore, by extension, not supporting or promoting other properties [including, without limitation, other Tours, Leagues, Series or Competitions].”

Stenson knew and he got exactly what he asked for and was expecting. Now, go about your business bud.

What about Donald Trump telling PGA Tour players to sign and take the $ before an inevitable PGA and LIV golf merger!

Eguller He just wants $$$$ flowing into his courses and his branding

The dude will bite back when he can find a way to.

Spuzz He almost made 15 minutes of fame literal. Great for a brief period and then some unpredictably sporadic appearances high on the leaderboard.

johnnydoom I wonder if Jason Day will get in on some of that.

I would, if I was him.
His back is not good enough to sustain any kind of grind on the PGA Tour, sadly.

CH3 has made a good amount of money grinding out his many years on tour.
He still has a good swing. His issues have been mental fortitude, imo.

      Subsonic

I think if Ann Landers we’re around today she’d agree that the resentment caused by the trauma is justified.😉

I agree that Trump is self interested but what about LIV and the PGA Tour merging at some point in the future?

Will it happen in the next 5-10 years? Who thinks it’s a possibility and if a merger does occur only the LIV players likely would have benefited from the signing bonus.

toraider what about LIV and the PGA Tour merging at some point in the future?

Ernie Els said it best. Why not have the LIV and PGA sit down and talk. The PGA does not play for 3 months at the end of the year, and LIV plays very few tourneys. Let them have the 'silly season' time. Then, everyone can be members of all tours.

But....as we all can see, it is a Norman vs. Monahan thing. And both are hurting players from all tours.

Par4QC But....as we all can see, it is a Norman vs. Monahan thing. And both are hurting players from all tours.

Hmmmm. Norman’s long-hurting, bruised ego versus the golf world thing IMO. No small ego. 🙄
