rsvman2 Is it not possible for two things to be interesting?

Sure. For example I'm interested in both the John Deere Classic and the Irish Open this weekend. 😉

Glad to see that the Saudi's involvement in global sporting events in an effort to present Saudi Arabia as a newly business-friendly, forward-thinking nation to takeaway the focus on it's human rights issues isn't working for you.

Isn't working for me either.

Do the fellas that have been suspended by the PGA also hold DP World Tour cards, DJ, PM, et all? How does that work, having dual membership? I see they were not fined by DP, as were the ones from Europe.

DP World’s Pelley just released a statement r that basically said Bye Bye Boys - you knew and still made your choice.

Eguller you knew and still made your choice

The lawsuit will continue, imo, as it was always going to end up in the courts, given the antagonistic stance taken by both Tours. The letter was the players' version of "you knew and had a choice", so cya in court.

imo, the PGA is going to have trouble once they hit the courtrooms, with the word 'suspension'. Esp. if I were the judge.
Unless that word has been taken off the table and replaced with banned. Then I think they are still going to have a problem. How do you ban a certain group of people from working for you, without discrimination?
How do you ban a certain group of workers if they have earned an automatic 'employment', if they have not broken any 'company' rules since they 1st began working for the company?

When did the 'you must ask my permission' clause go into effect?

Devil is in the contract details Rex. All parties are prepped and ready to go to court if required.
This will not shake out easily IMO.

We’ve been down this road before. You were allowed 3 releases per year. And going by memory no releases were allowed in North America.

Releases were for tournaments that coincided with PGA Tour tournaments as I remember.

The players who went and played in London and who didn’t resign were in violation of the rules because they weren’t granted a release.

So the suspensions given were for violating the rules that everyone knew about. Suspension or ban are semantics. No one has said a lifetime ban as far as I know.

So if the ‘rebels’ have a change of heart and want to return to the mothership. They can beg mercy / apologize and come back with their tail between their legs. And all will be forgiven. 😂

Except for Table For One. The Saudi’s can keep him.😎

Sneakylong if the ‘rebels’ have a change of heart and want to return to the motherland. They can beg mercy / apologize and come back with their tail between their legs. And all will be forgiven. 😂

Maybe. BUT, there would have to be a serious cost. Jump ship, load your pockets with blood money and then say sorry. Yeah. Right. 🙄

            Eguller

Yeah, maybe just a penance is to lenient. On second thought bring them to my laird and punishment will be swift. Lol

Maybe give the blood money to victims of human rights abuse.

Sneakylong Suspension or ban are semantics.

Not really. Suspension is typically defined as something temporary. Banning is typically defined as something permanent.
If the PGA wants strength in a courtroom, they best be saying....banned.

Eguller there would have to be a serious cost.

How much? Didn't DT World Tour fine their guys 100K# last week? That is a lot of loot, but not if you win $4M. Even in last place, you profit.

The cost would not be direct $$$. It has to really hurt - they already have the $$. How about a 3 year ban before reinstatement like the pro back to am status. 😠

The article I referenced regarding the 16 DP World Tour players ‘banned’ including Lee Westward and Ian Poulter. They used the word ‘banned’ from playing next week at the Scottish Open.

Are they banned for life or just from the Scottish Open? Again, semantics. I could say you have a lifetime suspension or lifetime ban.

Bans or suspensions can always be lifted.

I’ve got 10-11 years to work I wish someone would give me a chance to retire in 2 years. Of course that means I’d have to be extremely good at golf but that isn’t happening lol. I ain’t judging these guys. There’s only one judge.

                  bigshank

Sorry you feel that way, but some of us do care and have strong opinions on this. But people can disagree. For me not being the religious type I’ll judge in the here and now.

And I would think for religious people it would be frowned upon to sell one’s soul. Have no problem with getting as much money as you can. But the source of the money is relevant. Because in the words of Philly Mick, the Saudi’s are bad m’fers.
