I tried to find it and Torpedo it, but I couldn't, so I started this just for a quick F/U comment.

I posted this thing called "Triangulaid" on that thread. It was all in French, so I didn't understand a word, but I could get the idea from watching. As you may or may not recall, he had a swing aid thing he placed on the ground that was kind of like two yardsticks held together by a rivet at one end. He opened the other end up so on the ground it look like a crescendo mark on a piece of music.

For bad players and beginners, he has the two pieces opened up about 20-ish degrees, and for good or advanced players he pushes them closer together to where it is only about a 5 degree angle.

The idea is that the leg of it that is closest to the player represents how the feet will be positioned, somewhat open to the target. The other leg represents the intended path of the club as it goes through the ball; this path is always right of the intended target (for right handers), promoting an in-to-out path.

He likes to have the body slightly open and the path inside-out because he believes it promotes good sequencing. He also emphasizes relaxation and rhythm, "le dance du golf."

Anyway, long story short, I decided, at my last range session, to attempt to mimic this set-up using alignment rods. So I picked a target line and then set one of them left (open to) that target line for my feet. I then put the second alignment rod about 6 inches after the ball, but had it pointing right of my target. The angle between the two rods was maybe 15-ish degrees.

So I set up my feet along the first one and then when I swung, I attempted to make the club path go where the second one was pointing.

The result? I hit some amazing iron shots. Direction was really good, ball striking better than usual, repeatability better than usual. I think the crazy French guy is really on to something.
