Not going to go into why I'm posting this (ok, I did below - I could not help it), but I wanted to see how others react to playing partners trying to give you swing tips and putting lines during a round.

Personally I do not like much 'advice'. My general attitude is, Its my swing, STFU. My crazy swing generates a lot of comments and I'm aware of that (and have fun with it) - but don't try to fix me - you're not me. Sometimes I am accepting of advice though - maybe its a person I have great respect for, or they are subtle and understated in their approach. Most of the time though - I dislike it. 'You need to do this' or 'you should stop doing that'. I try to have patience as I do believe they have my best interest in mind - but I cannot help but cringe when I hear it.

This weekend I made one playing partner laugh out loud twice - because I was shooing away another guy's advice. I play with the same 12-16 guys every week. This guy is one of the higher handicaps in the group, but for some reason wants to give me advice all of the time. He's also a terrible putter, but is always trying to give me reads.

Situation 1 - 'you don't want to give up the hole'. I said 'yes, I do'. My other buddy chuckles.
Situation 2 - 'you want to hit the ball right here', I said 'no I don't, get out of the way'. My other buddy almost falls over laughing.

I guess I'm looking for a free assessment. Am I an ass (setting myself up for some), or do you all feel this way?

(P.S., my best comment was to a friend if mine a few years ago. After hitting my hybrid (4 wood loft) so well on the previous two holes (which I have reasons why hit it there), we come to a par 5 that is generally un-reachable in two - I grab the driver and he says 'why don't you hit the hybrid here?'. My response was 'because I don't fucking want to'. The entire group fell out laughing. It was spur of the moment, but what better excuse does a guy need? 🤣 )
